Mobile Ad ID question and its legitimately

I’m not sure if this is the right thread. Moderators, if not can you place it in the right one.

 

I just saw a presentation on Mobile Ad ID and what this can do, in relation to geotagging, geotargetting, cross-channel device linking (so identify the same user in both mobile and desktop), profiling, know is s/he has kids, travel routes etc.

 

So, my question is: which (identifiable) information can be used & tracked from a Mobile Ad ID? Can also other apps on the device be read, or what app-information can be used?


Is this legal - the company says they’re GDPR compliant?

Or is this a “grey” area?

 

And if companies like Apple, and moreover even Android parties, and browsers with tracking off and/or blocking of cookies becoming more and more, it is wise to use these kind of services from such a company.

 

The company involved has respectable clients in there portfolio, even Fortune 500 ones.
