Vulva Spaceship aims to counter prevalence of phallic spacecraft

A German feminist art group has revealed a vulva-shaped spaceship concept, which it is encouraging the European Space Agency to help realise in order to better represent humanity in space and "restore gender equality to the cosmos."

The group Wer Braucht Feminismus? (WBF?), which translates to "Who Needs Feminism?", created the Vulva Spaceship concept to challenge the convention of phallic spacecraft design.

The yonic craft was designed to signal inclusivity and the group has started a petition on change.org calling on the European Space Agency to consider the project.

"The project adds another dimension to the representation of humanity in space and is communicating to the world that anyone has a place in the universe, regardless of their genitalia," said the organisation.

Someone needs to tell these mindless idiots that's not how spaceship design works...

That’s just, like, because science, man…

My take on the issue: Bezos's rocket offended them A LOT.

And you do know he wanted it that way in design.

Tons of other rockets don't look like that. Gahahahahhah

I get that this is "art", but it seems to imply that somebody got offended and upset by the shape of a rocket.  Granted, I'm not at all surprised seeing as people get upset about literally everything these days.

Just waiting on somebody to sue Elon because their child watched a rocket launch and was offended by it.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not?!
I'm sure some people are dumb enough to think like that, but could they really start the design process without finding out that the cylinder shape has advantages apart from looking like a penis...? I guess by spaceship design they mean drawing...

I'd suggest it's not a "joke" but a commentary using parody to make a (potentially misguided) point.

I found out at about 14 years of age, that I was addicted to the vulvular shape.

I'm reminded of a Russian sci-fi movie I saw in a theater as a kid, Imported from the Soviet Union and edited by "King of the B Movies" Roger Corman, together with his young writer-editor Francis Ford Coppola (yes, THAT guy).

The trailer is "most interesting" if you watch starting at about 50 seconds in:

In case nobody else "got it" (but for Mr. Montage), the goofy battling genital aliens were created, built, puppeted, filmed, and edited into this Russian sci-fi movie for US release by Mr. Coppola in 1962. (It was scary to this 8-year-old in 1962.)

    • TCL's Bang & Olufsen soundbar is 40% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The TCL Design Series A65K is currently $299.99, down from $499.99. That's 40% off and $200 saved on a soundbar tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which is not a combination you'd normally expect at this price point (purchase link below). Bang & Olufsen doesn't typically show up in the sub-$500 category. The Danish audio brand is known for speakers that cost several times more, so having their acoustic tuning on a $300 soundbar is very appealing. TCL handles the hardware, B&O handles the sound engineering, and the result is what the company calls "accessible luxury." Still, accessible luxury isn’t full-fledged luxury, so don’t expect wonders. But this is a decent soundbar, nevertheless. The A65K is a true 3.1.2 channel system with nine physical drivers, including genuine up-firing height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Many soundbars at this price simulate overhead effects through virtual processing, rather than actual hardware. So, you’re getting the real deal. The design is unusually slim for a system with Atmos compatibility. The bar is just under 2 inches deep and should fit beneath most TV screens. The wireless subwoofer is also compact at roughly 14 x 14 x 5 inches. Total output is 460W, and you can connect to the soundbar via HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3, or USB. There are also eight sound modes through the TCL Home app and an AI calibration capability. Although it’s worth mentioning that AI capabilities in most of these devices are inconsistent, to say the least, and that shouldn’t be the biggest selling point. Still, at $299.99, the A65K is a strong buy for anyone who wants a soundbar that sounds and looks noticeably better than what this price range usually offers. And the Bang & Olufsen branding surely sounds nice - pun intended. • That is $130 more than I paid for my 4TB a year ago. How is this a deal?
