Enlarging images with AI PNG Enlarger — Safe?

I saw this sponsored post on Facebook for this program called AI PNG Enlarger https://bggenerator.com/pngenlarger.html a couple of days ago and I have not been able to find any real world reviews of the program online, so I have not installed it.

 

I am always a bit wary of brand new programs (website year is 2022) where the program is completely free, and there is no Github opensource for the pros to scrutinize the programs code.

 

It uses "AI and Deep Learning algorithms" sounds like a dream come true, but I have been here before and covered news about programs containing malware or phoning home, or sharing telemetry data without you knowing etc hehehe 😛

 

Just wondering if anyone has seen this program before and if anyone knows something more about it.

Hi Steven, glad to see you have post AI PNG Enlarger here. I am the vendor of it and got here by Google.

BGGenerator.com was created in 2020, and it is a free online random background and image generator program. I have made AI PNG Enlarger by the open source ESGAN and feed the AI by thousands of images. The tool is totally free now, and doesn't have any malware or adware, you can scan it by VirusTotal if you like.

Well... apparently free for personal use, there's an option to buy a commerical licence in the app.

I installed it and tested it on two images. It did no enlargement at all, the images came out exactly the same size as they went in. The site talks about making sure to update your graphics cards drivers, mine are right up to date. It is just a file copier.
