So when will get Windows version 11?

Recommended Posts

When Microsoft sees an advantage to bumping the major kernel version. Until Windows 10, the major kernel version didn’t even match the OS version so it’s a cosmetic thing really.

Windows 10 kernel bump from windows 8.1 (6.3) to version 10 was also just "cosmetic"

But it makes more sense for OS to have some reference actual OS version.

These version number only have relevance internally and with (certain types of) developers. macOS and Darwin numbers don't match, neither do version numbers for Linux distributions and the Linux Kernel.

Windows 11 is just the product name (like XP or Vista), and the kernel is not the whole OS anyway, just a part of it.
