Updating motherboard UEFI BIOS resolves Windows 11 update failures

Recommended Posts

I have had a problem that my PC (which meets the Windows 11 requirements) would keep trying to install Cumulative Update 2022-11 through Windows Update and the update would fail over and over again.

The error code it gives is for a corrupted copy of Windows.

I reinstalled Windows 11, but that did not help.

Finally, I updated the motherboard UEFI BIOS, and, surprisingly, that resolved the issue with installing the update.

Might be handy to include your system specs, especially motherboard make and model, as well as bios version you updated to... ;)

what Windows 11 version are you running, Mockingbird?  21H2 (build 22000) or 22H2 (build 22621)
type winver.exe at the Run dialog box to show the Win11 version build & edition
there are several different Win11 "Cumulative Updates 2022-11", some for 21H2 and the others for 22H2
