Why isn't it more widespread then? What about people that like PC gaming and don't want/don't own a console? MMO gaming/professional work with specific software aren't "edge cases".
If people don't have problems using Chromebooks they can use Linux too. Those games can be run on consoles. Linux is fine for the mainstream, Windows is more for the edge cases Linux doesn't cover.
Install Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, and buy a key from the gray market. Supported until January 13, 2032. 100% "legal"? Maybe not. But does anyone care? Definitely not if you're doing it in your home only. Problem solved 😅.
