Oh no, we can't afford to spare 30MB of memory these days... Why, our computers will simply grind to a halt under that amount of strain... ;)

Really, IE uses as much if not more memory when its run. Microsoft has taken steps however, to hide the real memory usage from its users.

well for me opera is simply the best, extremely light, tabs, never had a problem with it so i cant think of any problems to name.... just try what you think is good and use what you like thats all, but i know opera gives some very good competition to all the rest mentioned

IE has the best rendering engine by far (and the most widely used and accepted.. meaning more compatibility overall), and coupled with MyIE2, its unbeatable.. and yes, ive tried them all.. Firebird, Mozilla, Opera, and all IE frontends (Avant, Crazy, Green, NetCaptor, plus many other i cant remember).. and i always keep coming back to MyIE2.. everyone should try it, just for the sake of it.. i doubt you'll want Firebird back after you taste MyIE2.. just MHO.. :D

tried MyIE and its nothing impressive, just a weak attemp to immitate mozilla tabs behavior, IMHO

Why weak?

I'm hooked on the mouse gestures.

Theres a button which lets me enable/disable images, java, scripts, activeX, etc

Theres a button which lets me magnify the browser to the absolute full screen, autohiding the toolbar up top.

Theres another button which will slowly scroll the page for me or set autoscroll speeds

Theres a button which lets me undo operations such as reopen last closed tabs

Theres a button which autohides the toolbar up top

Theres a button which lets me choose from the various groups.

ctrl +/- lets me zoom in and out of a web page.

These are just a few of the abilities I've found so far.

ditto. (Y)

dont forget:

  • Groups (open several sites at once)
  • the great and extensive Plugins and Skins support
  • Cleaning System (cache, adresses, cookies, etc..)
  • very powerful Pop-Up stopper (no modern browser is good without it)
  • Links list feature (display all links on a page)
  • show statistics in the status bar (IP, memory, network speed..)
  • easy and configurable one-touch proxy setup
  • configurable URL aliases (for example, i have mine setup so when i type 'n' in the adress bar, Neowin.net pops up.. pretty convenient)
  • configurable Quick Searching (type ANYTHING in the adress bar and its automatically Googled.. (Y) also, you could configure any other search engine on it, like for me typing 'nb search' would search newzbin.com for my searchstring.. incredible timesaver, this)
  • awesome drag-dropping capabilities.. select any text on a page and drag-drop it on the same page, and a new tab will open up with Google searching that word.. same thing goes for URLs.. select a URL and drag-drop it and it will automatically be visited in a new tab.. amazing, really

you call this 'weak'? it beats Firebird as far as features goes single-handedly, and thats including all of Firebird's plugins.. that said, Firebird is a good browser, but i dont think it can compare to MyIE2, IMO.. :)

,Jun 30 2003, 00:06] so? all those features are in firebird too, plus you can add more features via plugins

umm no theyre not.. like i said, ive thoroughly tested Firebird and checked out practically every plugin there is, and the functionality, compared to MyIE2, is sub-par, at best..

again, most of these features are NOT in Firebird..

well, you must be blind and biased because I use or used to use every feature that have you listed

Care to tell me what feature is not in Firebird?

    • Microsoft's new Xbox Shutdown change promises massive power efficiency gains by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft has been delivering a lot of changes for Xbox Insiders to test in recent weeks, and today, another wave of changes aimed at consoles was announced. The latest drop is testing features that let users find mutual friends easier, customize their UI, and streamline wishlisting. When looking at an Xbox friend's profile, an option will appear to see mutual friends, perhaps to get a refresher on how you know that person. This will depend on the privacy settings. The same applies to when checking the profile of a person who is not in the friends list, offering a quick way to find out if this is a known connection. Next, Microsoft is giving the option to change how the 'Home' and 'Games & Apps' sections show off available games. There is a new poster style that users can enable for an "immersive library experience." "We’ve also made personalization settings easier to navigate and customize by separating Home and My Games & apps into separate sections," adds the company. "And to make personalization even more accessible, we’ve added new shortcuts throughout menus, so you can quickly jump in and tailor your XBOX experience the way you want." Moreover, heading to the store page of an unreleased game will now offer players the option to wishlist directly from the game card. Lastly, Microsoft is making a change to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles that are in Sleep mode, making them use the more energy-saving 'Shutdown' mode instead automatically. The company says this can increase power savings by up to 20 times without impacting "performance, gameplay, or your ability to receive system, games or apps updates overnight." The only down side seems to be a longer startup time that can take up to 45 seconds. The setting was originally introduced in 2023, and this is only the latest update to it. The power option can be changed from the console settings at any time. This Xbox Insider update is rolling out today to select members of the program. As usual, Microsoft aims to bring it to more Insiders over time before they reach all Xbox owners. Head here to find out how to join the Xbox Insider Program to get a chance to test these features and upcoming ones on both consoles and PC.
    • 2 was a fun game but felt a bit shallow, like not enough there. I hope this expansion fixes that.
