AutopatcherXP, http://autopatcher.com/index.htm

either that or you've updated your windows.. cause there's a windows update the changes msgina.dll to new version (5.1.2600.1343)

Use restorator and hack the dll...or whatever program....

just is your version and replace it with all the icons etc..

Thanks jnr_subz33, you put me on the right track. I finally figured out that if you don't set icon packager to default windows before you uninstall it, it will screw up everything. Now everything works like a charm. Thank you.

No problems man....

Could someone upload the icons to change in the msgina.dll? I'll try to do it manually :) my ver is newer.

One more thing, I'm fully updated with windows update but my comctl32.dll is older than the shell pack's. What can I do?

Download the pack and use restorator to extract the icns files etc from the modded dlls..

then get you dll, and assign all the icons etc to your dll version...save and thats it...

sorry its not detailed...the program itself has a tutorial on how to achieve this...

remember to save yourself a backup...

Awesome set. ONly one problem I have encountered. How do you change this back icon?

Hmm i just checked mine and i have the same problem/bug..didn't really notice that..

im guessing he over looked that part..

maybe in his sp2 update he'll get that fixed..

Thanks but, mm.. I need to get over this process everytime WU opdates one of these files? :) can't I make a script or something for resource hacker/restorator/any else that will change them?

Imagine shell32.dll is changed, this could last forever, updating it over n over.

hmm don't know about that one...

i just wait for a new version of APXP every month so i pretty much update then...

i don't think its possible but there might be a way...

ask around the forums or you could always just google it..

btw restorator doesn't take long at all...max 2 min...for updating dll, cpl or exe...

Ok I'm installing this and I am trying to change the PNG file icon using the directions in the shimgvw readme. It says to go to the icon tab in the properties of a PNG file, but there is no icon tab. How do I do it then?

Yeah there was no icon tab for me too, so what i would do is go to the file types section usually found under folder options and edit the icons from there....

find png format, then change the icon with the gant icon...

you might also want to get a image magnifier because its difficult to tell which icon is for what file type...zoom in and you should find out...

need anymore help...don't hesitate to ask...

posting this here too coz i think this needs to be here too

:)hanks s7evyn :)

Ok, i followed those exact instructions. Everything went ok, no errors.

Here is a screenshot of what my desktop looks like after i followed those instructions, did a reboot etc.

wtf.PNG

Now I'm a little confused why it shows the nice blue icons in the "new office doc" window, but why doesn't it show in the normal "my documents" browser?

Any ideas?

edit: Sorry if this has already been solved or something, i looked through this thread as much as i could, and did searches.

edit: Hmmmm, i have fixed the icons for now. I went into stylexp and clicked icon tab > windowsxp default. That fixed it so yeah.

some minor bugs: zip files show up as normal (no biggy) can't think of much other then that right now...

Now enough with my problems, i absolutely love this theme, very nicely done DID. Well worth :woot:te! :woot:

Well I have the GANT 2 icons downloaded separatly, but I can't find an icon for PNG files. I looked in the filetype folder and the rest but couldn't find anything. Did you still do these steps?

2) Now this should be your current icon location : "C:\WINDOWS\System32\shimgvw.dll,2"

Now all we have to do here is change that '2' at the end of the location to '5' like

this : "C:\WINDOWS\System32\shimgvw.dll,5"

3) Now replace your original shimgvw.dll with the G.A.N.T. 2 shimgvw.dll. So now all the .png files will show the G.A.N.T. 2 .png icon (not needed for people who already replaced their shimgvw.dll)

and we're set :D

Sorry for the late reply..

I could never get my img icons to change that way so this is what i did...

go to folder options and then file types..

find jpeg file and then click advance..choose the option to change the icon and search for the shimgvw.dll located in the system32 folder..

find the icon for the img file type and then click ok...

do the same for gif, tiff, png and bmp...

i've added the pics of the file types so you know which one to use for what file type...

    • Now 8GB of ram looks even worse in the Neo. I'm so happy I purchased 128GB of DDR 4 when I did.... paid $174. Upgraded my parents laptop to 32GB around the same time for $48. Luckily I have a TON of spare laptops. So i'm good on laptops for a while. I also have a lot of desktops too that I could use if i had to. Lets just hope nothing happens to my main 4 monitor couch workstation.
    • I will keep my current devices for several years... no planning in upgrading until these devices stop working. Too pricey.
    • Apple raises MacBook and iPad prices as memory costs surge by Karthik Mudaliar Apple has raised the U.S. prices of several MacBook and iPad models, including the MacBook Neo, which it launched for $599 less than four months ago. The company’s cheapest laptop now starts at $699, while some MacBook Pro configurations have increased by $300. The changes affect the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. Apple has not changed the hardware or storage included with these models, so customers are simply paying more for the same configurations. Here is how the new US pricing compares with the previous starting prices: Product Previous price New price Increase MacBook Neo $599 $699 $100 13-inch MacBook Air, 512GB $1,099 $1,299 $200 14-inch MacBook Pro, 1TB $1,699 $1,999 $300 16-inch MacBook Pro $2,699 $2,999 $300 11-inch iPad Air, 128GB $599 $749 $150 13-inch iPad Air, 128GB $799 $949 $150 11-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $999 $1,199 $200 13-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $1,299 $1,499 $200 The updated prices are already appearing on Apple’s U.S. online store. The MacBook Neo increase will probably attract the most attention. Apple introduced the laptop in March for $599, pitching it as a more affordable Mac for students and buyers considering Windows laptops or Chromebooks. It uses an A18 Pro processor and originally undercut Dell’s new $699 XPS 13 by $100. Following the increase, the two laptops now have the same starting price. The M5 MacBook Air has also lost the price Apple promoted when it launched in March. The 13-inch model arrived with 512GB of storage for $1,099, while Apple’s store now lists the MacBook Air range as starting at $1,299. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip and 1TB of storage has gone from $1,699 to $1,999. Apple has made similar changes to its iPads. The recently released M4 iPad Air, which launched at the same $599 starting price as its predecessor, now starts at $749 for the 11-inch version. The 13-inch version has risen from $799 to $949. The iPad Pro increases are larger in dollar terms. Apple’s 11-inch M5 iPad Pro now starts at $1,199, up from $999, while the 13-inch version has moved from $1,299 to $1,499. Both base models still include 256GB of storage. Apple blamed the increases on the rapidly rising cost of DRAM and NAND flash, which provide system memory and device storage. The company told Reuters that it had tried to shield customers from the increases but could no longer absorb them. “We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly,” Apple said. Tim Cook had already warned that price increases were coming. Cook said Apple’s existing component inventory had softened the immediate impact, but that higher memory costs would increasingly affect the company after the June quarter. Much of the pressure comes from the construction of AI data centers. Memory manufacturers are directing more production toward high-margin server products, leaving PC, tablet, and smartphone makers competing for the remaining supply. Apple has not said whether the new prices are temporary or whether further increases are planned. For now, the changes show that even Apple’s purchasing power has not been enough to keep the AI-driven memory shortage away from consumer devices.
    • Ventoy 1.1.16 is out.
    • This is a none story - these low volume Chinese models will always get new experimental features first because Apple and Samsung can't produce them in huge volume to meet demand.
