Kevin Spacey found not guilty in sex offences trial

From the BBC live blog: "Anyone who alleges that they are the victim of a sexual offence is automatically legally entitled to lifelong anonymity."

So my question is: Why are the four individuals allowed anonymity if a jury cleared Spacey and three of them were ultimately found to be lying to the court? (the other was intoxicated).

Doesn't this basically give anyone a reason to destroy another person's life and not have to face consequences?

"He said three of the four accusers had lied when they made allegations against Spacey, and had done so “for reasons which, ultimately, will only ever be known to themselves". He suggested that a fourth complainant was intoxicated"

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-66291461S

Spacey admitted to acting improper to some fellow actors who publically accused him of groping and other behaviors, but it does seem like a bit of a witchhunt against someone who probably needs to be more understanding of other people's personal space.

In any case all of the allegations against him either fell apart when scrutinized or were disproven https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Spacey#Legal_issues

Meanwhile Spacey's career is dead.

Another unfortunate victim of the #MeToo movement... If the allegations have been proven false, these 4 accusers should not have been allowed to remain anonymous so that spacey could sue their asses into the next century.

I don’t know… this is something can bounce back from, and it could even give him extra gravitas.

Shame all this ###### ######ed up the last season of House Of Cards!

Since the accusers can stay anonymous I think it should be fair for the accused to also stay anonymous until proven guilty.  This is hard to do if you're a star though, the info will leak out, but many people get charged, the media goes crazy, people jump to the "they're guilty" opinion and regardless of being found not guilty in the end it hangs over you.

With some time he can probably bounce back now that it's all over.  Maybe another year for it to fully die down I'd say.

Remember, he is a stage actor also, and that crowd are a lot more liberal and accepting. He'll do some low-impact stage work before a return, probably in something understated before really re-launching his career (if he even chooses to).

These people are not anonymous to Kevin Spacey LOL and he is free to take any civil action he likes against them.

    • (macOS) Screen zoom was broken for me in beta 1 and it's now working properly in beta 2. In terms of performance and UI design/consistency, these betas are already much better than Tahoe.
    • Less powerful than a PS5 at twice the price! I wonder if they use that for marketing? Totally DoA.
