i dont really hear much about redhat... is it bad or something?

RedHat shifted their business to their commercial products. They released the developement of the "user" Linux (formerly known as RedHat Linux) to the Open Source community (and still a significant portion of their employees who still work on it).

The "community supported" version of their software is known as Fedora Core. It can be found at http://Fedora.RedHat.com

Also, they distribute it for FREE (legimately) on P2P programs as LindowsLive - they do this because they don't have to pay the hosting fees for the file.

No, LindowsLive is a bootable CD version of Lindows, kind of like Knoppix, Mandrake Move, or the SuSe Live Eval CD. They also have it on the main Lindows site, the only reason you see it on the P2P networks is because this version is freely distributable (all the time, not just when they have the cupon offers going on). It has nothing to do with Lindows not wanting to pay for the hosting of the file.
