Updating Realtek 8118 Ethernet Driver?

Recommended Posts

Lately have had some crashes in Games,  wondering if i should update my Ethernet Driver,  but not sure which one to go with

*Namely Secondlife Game--Crashing at about every sim change lately)

Tried Clearing the Games Cache, Restarted Desktop, Restarted Comcast Gateway XB7-A,  running out of ideas to try lol

**Windows Update finds no updated Ethernet Drivers** (already tried that)

There is Windows 11 One on Realtek Site   (NDIS)  version  or Net Adapter CX (Not Support Power Saving)

Right now running one from Gigabytes Driver page, but its kinda old now, came out in 2021.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated in this matter

Ethernet should never need "new drivers" like your GPU drivers.

Try and locate where your issue is. is it your computer or your modem/router?

Edit: You can get a USB Eithernet dongle, see if that works.

Edit2: What is your motherboard's version?

Motherboard version is Gigabyte B460M_DS3H Rev 1.0

Gonna manually restart Comcast Gateway early in the morning when no one using it tomorrow probably 6am-7am i think, (only time i have with no one using it lol)

Will look into USB Dongle, do have a 2.5 Gigabyte One from Sabrent, XB7 Gateway does have a 2.5gig Port, and My cable Cat6a works with it,  i just stopped using that a while back for some reason--can't remember exactly why now....(just don't know if i wanna fiddle around trying to hook up the USB Dongle at 6am-7am when its dark lol

Hang on, how have you determined that it's your network driver causing the crashes and not something else?
Bad sticks of RAM can also cause crashes, bad CPU or a dying GPU too.

Yeah i do have a small flashlight to use if need be,  Hopefully i can solve this issue fully, and everything back to normal lol.       It was fine up til 11/6, though late that night XB7-A Gateway have a Firmwire update around 3am that early morning,  then 11/7, 11/8/  11/9 Secondlife sim change crashes

Other games like Battlefield 2042 seemed to work fine thus far,  Euro Truck Simulator 2,  American Truck Simulator 2,  Firefighter Simulator The Squad I've tried when i had time

I can test the Ram early tomorrow with Memtest86 or over night later tonight,  will update the usb stick in a bit

I'll get it sorted though  one way or another

Update: **Had Secondlife Sim Owner restart the One sim that was causing the most issues, and for first time in days crossed it without crashing!!,  Not gonna say 100 percent yet, might still test Ram anyways over night later, and Manually Restart Comcast Gateway Modem early in morning**

Might even Test with PC 2 Gaming Laptop tomorrow as well or tonight for PC 2 in a few minutes

I now got some other ideas to try to fix this on Desktop, will get a usb stick out and get Memtest86 on that in a few minutes,  let that run over night,  check it when i wake up around 6am.
