dlf
Last night, I was installing programs (vlc, dolphin emu, virtual-box) via the software manager, trying to get a ps5 controller to bluetooth connect to the computer without a cable. Rebooted at somepoint and I now get odd errors like: https://imgur.com/a/pJsl4W9 . Those basically appear regardless of weather I'm trying to get into the install on my NVME ssd, or a live USB. Right now I'm in a live install with compatibility mode (linux mint 21.3 with cinnamon) If needed (inix) mint@mint:~$ inxi -Fxxxrz System: Kernel: 6.5.0-14-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 6.0.4 tk: GTK 3.24.33 wm: muffin vt: 7 dm: LightDM 1.30.0 Distro: Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia base: Ubuntu 22.04 jammy Machine: Type: Desktop System: ASUS product: N/A v: N/A serial: <superuser required> Mobo: ASUSTeK model: TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI v: Rev 1.xx serial: <superuser required> UEFI: American Megatrends v: 1807 date: 09/26/2023 CPU: Info: 8-core model: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D bits: 64 type: MT MCP smt: enabled arch: Zen 3 rev: 2 cache: L1: 512 KiB L2: 8 MiB L3: 96 MiB Speed (MHz): avg: 1386 high: 4841 min/max: 400/5050 cores: 1: 400 2: 400 3: 4721 4: 400 5: 400 6: 3531 7: 4291 8: 400 9: 400 10: 400 11: 4841 12: 400 13: 400 14: 400 15: 400 16: 400 bogomips: 134152 Flags: avx avx2 ht lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm Graphics: Device-1: AMD vendor: Sapphire driver: N/A pcie: speed: 16 GT/s lanes: 16 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 1002:747e class-ID: 0300 Device-2: AMD vendor: ASUSTeK driver: N/A pcie: speed: 16 GT/s lanes: 16 bus-ID: 0d:00.0 chip-ID: 1002:164e class-ID: 0300 Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 1.21.1.4 driver: X: loaded: ati,vesa unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,radeon gpu: N/A display-ID: :0 screens: 1 Screen-1: 0 s-res: 1024x768 s-dpi: 96 s-size: 271x203mm (10.7x8.0") s-diag: 339mm (13.3") Monitor-1: default res: 1024x768 hz: 76 size: N/A OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 15.0.7 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 23.0.4-0ubuntu1~22.04.1 direct render: Yes Audio: Device-1: AMD driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel pcie: speed: 16 GT/s lanes: 16 bus-ID: 03:00.1 chip-ID: 1002:ab30 class-ID: 0403 Device-2: AMD vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel pcie: speed: 16 GT/s lanes: 16 bus-ID: 0d:00.1 chip-ID: 1002:1640 class-ID: 0403 Device-3: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel pcie: speed: 16 GT/s lanes: 16 bus-ID: 0d:00.6 chip-ID: 1022:15e3 class-ID: 0403 Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k6.5.0-14-generic running: yes Sound Server-2: PulseAudio v: 15.99.1 running: yes Sound Server-3: PipeWire v: 0.3.48 running: yes Network: Device-1: Realtek RTL8125 2.5GbE vendor: ASUSTeK driver: r8169 v: kernel pcie: speed: 5 GT/s lanes: 1 port: d000 bus-ID: 09:00.0 chip-ID: 10ec:8125 class-ID: 0200 IF: eno1 state: up speed: 1000 Mbps duplex: full mac: <filter> Device-2: Realtek vendor: AzureWave driver: rtw89_8852be v: kernel pcie: speed: 2.5 GT/s lanes: 1 port: c000 bus-ID: 0a:00.0 chip-ID: 10ec:b852 class-ID: 0280 IF: wlp10s0 state: down mac: <filter> Bluetooth: Device-1: IMC Networks Bluetooth Radio type: USB driver: btusb v: 0.8 bus-ID: 1-5:3 chip-ID: 13d3:3571 class-ID: e001 serial: <filter> Report: hciconfig ID: hci0 rfk-id: 0 state: up address: <filter> bt-v: 3.0 lmp-v: 5.2 sub-v: 91cb hci-v: 5.2 rev: dfb7 Drives: Local Storage: total: 2.05 TiB used: 4.4 MiB (0.0%) ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Samsung model: SSD 980 PRO 2TB size: 1.82 TiB speed: 63.2 Gb/s lanes: 4 type: SSD serial: <filter> rev: 5B2QGXA7 temp: 26.9 C scheme: GPT ID-2: /dev/sda type: USB vendor: SanDisk model: USB 3.2Gen1 size: 232.97 GiB type: N/A serial: <filter> rev: 1.00 scheme: MBR Partition: ID-1: / size: 15.28 GiB used: 226.7 MiB (1.4%) fs: overlay source: ERR-102 ID-2: /var/log size: 225.39 GiB used: 4.4 MiB (0.0%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/sda3 Swap: Alert: No swap data was found. Mindovermaster Moderator Posted February 12 Moderator Share Posted February 12 Try running in ACPI mode in your BIOS/UEFI.
dlf
Despite the raid messages, I have no other NVME ssd, nor is the setting in the UEFI set to RAID.
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted February 12 Moderator Share Posted February 12 Why are you running RAID if youre not running 2 drives? Sort of defeats the purpose. Try running ACPI. ACPI isn't RAID..

dlf
AHCI is enabled and was by default, for a brief time I did manage to temporarily fix it by going into recovery and running update grub and I think one other thing and then run a normal boot (from the same screen). However, I rebooted from that (after running system updates) and now it gives me the same damn messages.
Fatzo757
You lost your virtualbox kernal drivers. you need to reset the kernal. try running this command. sudo rcvboxdrv setup if not reinstall virtualbox from get or your packmager. https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch02.html#install-linux-host

dlf
What of the rest of what appears, how can I get back to almost immediately seeing the grub menu after the UEFI finishes? No longer get silly raid messages or about virtualbox ...
