The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)

I'm really not interested in another Marvel F4 movie.   If anything the only thing coming out of them that I have interest in is Deadpool 3 and X-men 97.

Stop making films without the original actors over and over. The last fantastic four wasn't bad but why do it again with yet another different cast? Can they not pay the others something to get them again??/

The big problem with superhero movies is that they take ages to make, and actors age... By the time they work up to a sequel, the original is so damn old your original audience has also grown up and a new batch of marks are available to rip off who never saw the previous one. :p

The big phase 1-4 movies all happened quickly, but the outliers like FF just take too long...

Julia Garner has been casted to play Silver Surfer.

This isn’t the Silver Surfer we saw in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. She has a different name and origin story — and her inclusion could hint at an even bigger villain.

First teaser trailer and it looks pretty good.  Tough it seems to take place in the past?

Not necessarily past, it could be the case of Retrofuturism by the looks of it. Still, looks wise it looks great :D !

It is supposed to take place in the early 1960s I heard. It looks great. The first MCU movie I actually am kinda excited about in a LONG time.

Ya the look is good, be interesting if they did a series of marvel films in this timeline

TBH, the 60's is around when most of Marvel's and DC's superheroes were born, so I'd love to see some movies based around the original versions of them... The current generation are pretty much done now, audience numbers are through the floor.  Time to either rest them completely, or go back to the real beginnings.

Wow...the dialogue writing is terrible.

Zero context sound bites in a trailer don’t portray excellent dialogue, within the context of a popcorn action flick. If that prompts a “wow” then you’re probably not the audience for this film.

Spoiler

Based on the Post-Credit after Thunderbolts*, I suspect this film will be the only one done in FantastiVision (I think that's what that retro look is called).  Sounds like the FF will be in the main MCU timeline promptly.

Surprised there is no commentary on this.  Solid movie, and very much stand-alone.  It's not a standout, A+++ movie by anymeans, but still solid.

Spoiler

There's no connection to the larger MCU, yet, and that includes the post-credit.  I had assumed (as I wrote months ago) that the ending or a post credit would connect it to what we saw in Thunderbolts*... didn't happen.

Saw it last night, and for the first time in a long time, I actually enjoyed a Marvel movie again.  It's been awhile! :)

It's no Endgame, but it's a worthy movie at least as good as the new Superman.  A solid 7/10 for me.

My earlier wish of returning to their original looks etc came true! They clearly worked hard to bring the 1950's comic book scifi aesthetic to life and I glad they did, it really worked!

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
