Concerned on External Drive that Fell Over While it was off

Recommended Posts

Should i be worried on the drive, if fell over on Carpeted floor as i was getting ready to put it away into its storage area til needed again.

its my primary WD MY Book 8TB Backup Drive

Should i run any tests on it?  i know its gonna take ages if i do run any tests on it with WD Software,  probably 3 or more days since its 8TB drive--and have to use Desktop for other tasks, of course i can use Secondary Gaming Laptop for some of the tasks, but not all of them

Advice? or am i worried over nothing

I would just do a SMART test. And make sure nothing is lost.

I dropped my WD external drive while moving. It fell about three feet and hit the cement sidewalk. I thought I had lost all my data, but after i set up my computer, in the new place, and plugged it in, Behold! Everything was there and the drive has now been in continuous service for over 10 years. Amazing!
