The 3 most popular threads on this website are political echo chambers, and it's a common trend in all 3 of them.

It would give that impression. Which is why I'm creating this poll outside the political forum. Get people to vote and get a sense of the broader neowin base.

  • Facepalm 2

My lord, a forum populated with (I would hope) above average intelligence - as we are actively collaborating and seeking/providing information - leans towards the guy who isn't an utter shambles of a human being.  Who'd have though!

Should be

Pretty sure admins can see the voting, but yes - it is publicly anonymous.

So, echo chambers...

If this poll leans towards Trump, then you can pat yourself on the back and suggest that you were right - all those threads are just people in an echo chamber and you knew it all along.

If this post leans towards Biden, then you can pat yourself on the back and suggest that you were right - Neowin is just an echo chamber and you knew it all along.

So - tell me about echo chambers, when this poll can only serve your agenda...

What are you rambling on about?  Warwagon posted this as a simple poll, but here you are trying to steer it the same direction as the other 3 "echo chambers".  I guess you can't help it, but thanks for proving my point, I guess.

Just as you made mine, and I’d love to give you the credit for realising this - but considering you label a coherent argument as “rambling”, you reveal more about yourself than you probably intended. Well done!

I chose option 3. They both suck.

Ah yes, the deflection tactic of those who refuse to stand by what they spew...  What point exactly were you trying to make?  Oh right, that supposedly somebody here is going to pat themselves on the back based on the results.  Sorry, but the only one that's being triggered by the poll results is you...
The poll is just a poll no matter what your imagination is telling you otherwise.  If you want to whine about one of the candidates, wobble your way back to the proper thread for that...

You’re right it is a simple poll, and yet you are the one who whined about the echo chambers and then whine some more when someone questions that.

And you talk about “rambling”. Hilarious!

Polls are never “just polls” in a political context. They are (at best) a pointless endeavour to make a point and (at worst) voter intimidation.

You seem absolutely triggered by people not agreeing with you! Snowflake behaviour!

Anyone who has a shred of common sense (so far only 23% (7/30) of those who took the poll have it) can see what's going on who's not brainwashed by the corrupt media knows the ONLY choice is...

The Great MAGA King (i.e. Donald J Trump)

he's the obvious sane choice in a insane world as when he's in power the world was stable and the USA prospers. when Crooked Joe and the godless left is in power, everything burns. like the bible basically says, 'by their fruits you shall know them'. by that standard (as Christianity is ALWAYS a safe bet to measure stuff by since the USA has revolved around those standard for a long time which the left now basically hates as they have embraced the culture of death) Trump is FAR superior to anyone on the left who just wants to see the USA/world burn as is obvious with inflation/open borders/wars/trans insanity etc (pretty much everything they do destroys instead of builds-up where it really matters). I always use a very simple example to show you how insane the left has become... when people think it's okay for biological males to compete in female sports that's a failure of basic reason at a fundamental level and these types inevitably will side with the bad guys long term. it's just the way things are.

like Dan Bongino says, it's all about snapshots and sound bytes and this picture should pretty much seal the Nov 2024 election...

Thank God (i.e. The Holy Trinity (Father/Son(Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit)) for saving Donald J Trump!!! ; real Americans (at least those with a functioning brain) KNOW he's the good guy and those opposing him are those of reprobate mind.

Because we read, are educated, don't ban the discovery of new information, and believe that all people are equal.

Crazy, I know.

Religion is not a basis for government.  The founding fathers knew this.  It's a slippery slope to go that way again, and anyone who does that is an idiot.

RIGHT, “God” saved a pediophile, rapist, adulterer, grifter, racist and misogynist from death.  But instead allowed the bullet to kill a family man who was shielding his family from stray bullets at a rally.  Trump is such a great man it took days to call his wife to pay his condolences.

One of the things that is clear to so many people (well, maybe outside of the US), is that neither of these people are fit for office, and that the political rhetoric in the United States is anything but united, and frankly extreme from both sides. A two-party system is flawed at best, and while I'm not entirely sure how the US political system is structured, it doesn't seem to allow a broader set of ideas or conventions to boost the country.

The flaws for Trump are clear. He only accepts others that agree with him (an echo chamber of ideas, akin to this poll/website 😉), not allowing other ideas or views to his own (vice president candidate as a mini-Trump is the latest worrying trend in that regard). While he is amazing at convincing people that his direction is the way to go, the way he goes about it is defined in every dictionary as misleading. If you splatter small truths in amongst a premise that is false, it doesn't make the whole thing true. I suspect Trump is aware of this as he is clearly switched on, though he has realised and is taking advantage of this psychological process that has helped him increase his voting base substantially.

Biden is a bit more complex. He clearly has led relatively well these past few years, despite the global and local issues that have come up. But there have been those gaffs too (though arguably Trumps were worse and more dangerous - injecting disinfectant or exposing intense light, looking directly at the sun). He is OLD (also with Trump being not far off, it doesn't really make sense to claim this for just Biden). In Aus, we had a PM who is just 3 years older than Biden, and we kicked him out of office in 2007 because we thought he was too old then, and disconnected from the country's needs.

They may have life experience to varying degrees, but the system is clearly so skewed with such a focus on POTUS (nearly God/villain perspective) that something has to give. I imagine an implosion of this country, akin to Handmaids Tale or Hunger Games in the next 40 years if this polarization keeps going. Good luck, and stay safe.

How is he the person trying to steer it?  You actually made the first post saying this place is highly slanted to the left and that three threads are echo chambers.  If anyone is stirring the pot it was you and this thread could have been easily left as a basic poll if you hadn't made that comment below.

Agreed.  It is more nuanced with Biden...

Firstly, we all know that he struggles with public speaking due to him constantly fighting his stutter.  Secondly, his advancing years are never going to help.  Do those gaffs impede his direct ability to perform his duties?  No.

But, do they undermine his public image, his ability to be seen as a competent leader?  To some, I would say yes - and that's valid.  We all mess up, but we aren't all the President of the United States of America, and it's not necessarily fair, but it's honest that we maybe need the person holding that role to be able to communicate well without such gaffs.

I, myself, facepalm when he does this.  And I have been known to chuckle at memes around the situation.  However, let's speak plainly here - those who use this as a means to somehow negatively compare him to Trump, they are disingenuous in their actions as they allow their cult leader to transgress in much more damaging ways without rebuke.

All that aside - of the two, Biden is astoundingly obviously the better leader, President, human - and so if given the choice of the two, the answer should be obvious.

Anyone who voted for Trump in the first election, OK - you could claim ignorance; I don't buy it because I personally feel that you should be educated before making such choices, but I don't run the election and my opinion is just that.  However now?  He has shown many times to not give a damn about the United States of America, it's citizens, it's laws, it's global standing, and yet here we are, people still worshiping his cult because they have doubled-down on whatever motivated them originally.

    • Apple has clarified Series 9 was left off the watchOS 27 compatibility list by mistake.
    • Signal accuses UK government of using child safety as cover for mass surveillance by David Uzondu Recently, the UK's Home Office announced a sweeping set of proposals to make Britain the "first country in the world" where children cannot share or view nude photos on their smart devices, an initiative that authorities claim will protect children from online predators and combat pornography. In response, Signal believes that while the government must keep children "safe" and "protected," it should do so through social services and education, not by "surveillance, funding cuts, and cover-ups." The company called the plan "dystopian" and warned that it violates everyone's fundamental right to privacy, arguing that scanning on the presumption of nudity will only strengthen the market dominance and data control of giant corporations like Apple and Google. The statement continues by accusing the government of hiding its true intentions under the guise of child safety. Signal argues that the Home Office is building an invisible surveillance infrastructure that remains ripe for exploitation by future administrations and authoritarian regimes. According to the company, this aggressive approach completely ignores the actual needs of young people, such as properly funded schools and mental health services. Tech companies like Apple and Google have a three-month window to implement these mandatory device-level filters across the United Kingdom. If these tech firms refuse to comply with the mandate, the government will pass emergency legislation to force them to comply, threatening massive fines and even going after the CEOs of these companies with criminal charges. The technology will work by blocking explicit images directly on the operating system of all smartphones and tablets by default. This system monitors the device camera and third-party apps to intercept nudity before anyone can upload or send the image. Adults can still view explicit content, but only after completing a strict age verification check to unlock their devices. Several bodies like the NSPCC and Barnardo's praised the Home Office's decision, arguing that device-level intervention stops the cycle of grooming before it starts. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) also supported the policy, claiming that tech companies can implement on-device checks "without threatening privacy or collecting any data."

    • It pretty much has to be compatible with MS Office or it is going nowhere. The rest of the world runs office including Europe. If it is not compatible it will not survive.
    • Incredible deal gets you free NVMe 512GB SSD with AMD AM5 B850 motherboard for only $150 by Sayan Sen Earlier this week we covered the story of an interesting PC case wherein you can build two full-size computers inside it as in it can house and run an AMD and an Intel system simultaneously. Speaking of building PCs, these are hard times to make one for sure as prices are often very high except during flash sales or discounts. If you are in the market for a 1080p gaming PC then Nvidia's 8GB RTX 5060 Ti is currently on sale for just $330 and you get the latest James Bond game too, for free. Speaking of which, right now there is another incredible sale going on as we can get a free 512 GB NVMe SSD from TeamGroup in the form of the G50 alongside the purchase of an AMD B850 socket AM5 motherboard for only $150 (purchase link under the specs table down below). Getting an AM5 motherboard now in 2026 will be a wise investment for sure, especially since AMD confirmed its commitment to support the socket till at least 2029. The MSI PRO B850M-P WIFI is a micro-ATX motherboard that is compatible with AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors. Since it is AM5, the motherboard works with DDR5 memory and includes MSI’s Memory Boost technology, along with EXPO and XMP support. Connectivity features include built-in Wi-Fi 7 paired with a 5G LAN solution. The board offers a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot with MSI’s EZ M.2 Shield Frozr II thermal solution, that is said to help maintain SSD performance by providing ample cooling against overheating.
