Retired

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to post a big milestone for me..... I'm retired!  After 10 years in the Armed Forces, 10 years as a high school biology teacher, and 30 years as a Registered Nurse, but at almost 68 it's time for me to spend some quality time with the family and the beach! I will still be hanging around here, but if I don't make sense, it;s just senior moments!  :)

Just a note to remind you to stay active as best you can otherwise retirement can be detrimental to your health. Can't count how many people I've known that have gone downhill after retiring and it's been mainly because they do nothing.

I've been retired for 14 years and loving it. I think I'm even more active than when I was working and feel even better both emotionally and physically.

Congrats!!

I really appreciate the advice. I work out all of the time and will teach part time. We have a beach house, so it is very tempting to just go there and look at all the sights on the beach!!

Congratulations on your retirement. I retired at the end of 2015. And then in 2018 got diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. Make sure you get a psa test every year. If caught early, most men will be okay. As a nurse, you probably know this, except my cancer groups always have medical doctors that have advanced prostate cancer. Go figure that out!

Lol! Yes, I know there is a blood test, but the colonoscopy is the gold standard and I already had polyps removed, so I will only do that (as unsavory as it is). That's my RN voice speaking....
