I guess its okay to be curious about it. From what I've seen, being a mod is a big job, and I'm glad that there are people who care enough to do it.

Being a mod has got to be a tonne of work though. I can only imagine the amount of PM's and requests these guys/girls get. Quite a responsibility to have no doubt. Yet they seem to be doing a great job. So obviously their choices have been correct up until now.
