Where would it end? Who would decide who deserves to die?

I agree with your points btw.

bout how profits are being put before people and that is wrong trip.

I just feel morally seeing the comments somewhat celebrating at a death of human being disappointing .

We can agree that this was probably a long time coming and probably hopefully see the government may take notice at this.

We can agree it was a long time coming, but I'm less than hopeful anyone in the govt is going to move an inch.

What happens when we see one offs like this? Not much... really. It's in the news for a bit, then nothing. Remember Covid? Remember seeing bodies being loaded into ice trucks and then buried in mass graves? I don't quite remember seeing or hearing half the sentiment then as I do in this thread over the loss... *cough* real time murder of a CEO. That's been my point this entire time. We lost thousands, thousands of people... and many of them died in hospitals where we banned even family members from seeing them as they took their final breath.

Protocols changed... but what about the social impact? People will always say, "Remember 9/11... Remember Jan 6th... Remember that CEO!" and then put the same people back in charge that were part of the cause to begin with.

The only people that take notice are us. Our votes do little to change the grand scheme of things so we take it out on each other when something drastic happens. I may not condone murder, but I will not feel sympathy for the death of those that think life is all about them.

Batman didn't kill

It really depends on the comic book universe they are using at the time. For example Batman from the flashpoint comic (Bruce Wayne's Dad) certainly killed folks.

He'll be replaced by another CEO and nothing will change.

They'll probably stop insuring gunshot injuries and increase premiums across the board...

Anyone else find it disturbing how Americans have reacted to that killing. The guy was probably a prick but shooting someone in cold blood on the street and applauding it. On Jon Stewart they booed when he said the murderer was caught. On Reddit they're posting his manifesto like he's the second coming of jesus. Maybe Americans deserve trump and what's coming to them. I find it all abhorrent

Or maybe there are enough Americans that are sick of the corruption and that’s why they are reacting that way. They are expected to condemn a single killing and yet ignore the thousands killed by corrupt healthcare?

I kinda doubt MAGA condoned the killing of the CEO.

I agree applauding any murder is sick, and it shouldn't be justified . However, the reason so many are applauding it is because of how f*cked up our healthcare system is. This guy oversaw a company with a 80+% rejection rate with healthcare claims . We're expected to condemn this ceo , whos health is valued higher than most of their clients

Sadly, if this is what it takes for people to take notice and maybe, just maybe, change how our healthcare system works then I can't say I'm against it.

Heck, we've already seen some results - Anthem tried to silently roll out a new policy that capped how long they'd pay for anesthesia during surgery recently, but the press around this, and the anger coming from people and the various unions actually raised enough awareness that they rolled back plans.

isn't that part of the problem with amerians. binary thinking. CEO bad therefore killer of CEO good. For me both are ######ed up. Neither probably deserve death. There are plenty out there who do. Applauding a murderer is not healthy or civilised.

I keep thinking about Gene Roddenbery who hoped for a better humaity in the future and how disgusted he would be by how a supposed civilized country is turning out

Fear not... There are plenty of countries beyond the US where healthcare is considered a human right rather than a privilege for the rich....  No need to stay in the barbarian lands if you don't want to. ;)

I wouldn’t know, I’m not familiar with amerians.

All joking aside, this sounds a lot like people preaching All Lives Matter when they hear about Black Lives Matter. You have missed the point I was making. And again you go grouping an entire nationality of having the same binary thinking. 🧐

what was the point you were making? you said they shouldn't conmdem a single killing? my point was (at least from the outside) it looks like americans think of a murderer as a hero because he killed someone they don't like or agree with. Wild west mentality

Also you brought up MAGA for some reason. I don't care about MAGA

Oh trust me, I definitely acknowledge the Irish... I have too, the company I work for is Irish! :p

I'll never forget when they bought us out and their CEO came to introduce himself... So many joking f-bombs in 5 minutes...

Did you even try reading what I said? I explained a possible reason people are acting how they are. The way they are due to corruption. Nobody is expected to shed a tear or outrage for the thousands killed by our healthcare overlords but you sound like you expect them to condemn a single murder? How come you aren’t outraged about the silence of the others who have died due to UHC? People are reacting to a crappy situation that is consistently a growing powder keg, something you seemingly cannot relate to.

You mentioned Trump, I commented on MAGA in return.

    • Thanks, Sony and Nintendo, you effectively killed platform-agnostic gaming. Long gone are the days when you could wish to play a specific game on whatever platform you were. Now, you have to buy the hardware just to play that single game. What, you're only interested in THAT game and nothing more? Bad luck, suck it and buy our console.

    • "CRAZIER than ever!" Crazy Taxi: World Tour is officially coming soon by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sega announced it is working on bringing back some of its classic franchises in 2023, and while it has taken some time, the company finally gave fans a look at one of these new projects at the Xbox Games Showcase today, which turned out to be a brand-new Crazy Taxi entry. Watch the debut trailer above, which has snippets of gameplay in between the cinematic bits while blasting a track from The Offspring. Dubbed Crazy Taxi World Tour, this installment is aptly being described as being "CRAZIER than ever!" The director behind the original, Kenji Kanno, is helming this new entry as well, which will come with access to five new cities to drive in, competitive multiplayer modes, a vehicle customization system, and more. Axel is returning as a protagonist as well, but this time a mystery driver is offering him the opportunity to take his adventures to the streets in other countries. This will involve Axel chasing down masked villains that have somehow stolen his taxi, which means even more extreme missions and challenges to overcome. "From transporting passengers at top speed to tackling unique side missions and odd jobs across dynamic maps, there are countless ways to drive crazy and rake in big money," says Sega about this new installment after over 20 years. "Perform outrageous drifts, catch insane air, and drive at crazy speeds across five different cities as you work to deliver passengers and complete a variety of missions and challenges." The studio has even confirmed an in-game Arcade Mode that players will be able to access containing the original games for plenty of nostalgic action. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently slated to release sometime in 2027 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
    • This and Crazy Taxi are the two games that interested me the most from this showcase.
