An improvement to the Neowin ignore list.

Recommended Posts

For those of you who have some members on your ignore list,  you'll notice that while you don't see their post, you do see a placeholder where their post would have been, saying the following.

I dislike it,  because it baits me into exposing the comment to see what stupid stuff they said.

So, I explored a solution.

Using a very popular adblocking extension, which I will not name, as I don't want to promote blocking ads on this site.

You can add the following filter entry to the extension.

##.ipsType_light.ipsComment_ignored.ipsComment

You will then see a blank space instead.

It's a game-changer, I love it.

You do realize that you're telling people an ad blocker can be useful so are in fact promoting ad blockers.

Fwiw, you should just remove that line completely. People don't need to know how you did it.

Well done though, it's a good change.

Or....OR....have self control and realize why they are on your ignore list.

If you are tempted to see what they are saying, maybe they don't belong on your ignore list, since, ya know...you don't want to ignore them?

So, you can't ignore those you have on your ignore list and because of your inability to follow your own rules you have to add some 3rd party assistance.  Seems like a shoot yourself in the foot problem.

My ignore list is blank, I have no problem dealing with the posts, remarks and/or responses of others.  If someone says something I don't like I either respond or move on.  If you believe you're being baited that's a problem fish have not humans.

However, to each their own.  If you want to be a fish, good for you.  😉
