49ers waive Garcia

Recommended Posts

thats just wrong, Garica has world of talent... the first half of last season he was hurt, hence the 49ers were struggling... but when he was healthy the 49ers were on a roll... big mistake i think... they dont even remember when he threw like 4 or 5 tds, and ran for a couple... morons!!!

I would rather have Owens' talent, but not Owens himself. Quarterbacks are a dime a dozen in the west coast offense. Just like Clinton Portis in Denver, put in the right offense, anyone can be a star. Sure Garcia was pretty good, but he wasn't 49er good. Tim Rattay isn't gonna stay long either. I believe his backup is Ken Dorsey from Miami. San Francisco better get it together, a crappy coach, no Garrison Hearst, Jeff Garcia, or Terrell Owens.

Well, dang, I'm kind of split on this.

I knew it was coming, because all the talk around here was that he refused to restructure his contract, something the 49ers don't take kind to. (Jerry Rice, Garrisson Hearst, etc.) I love Jeff Garcia - he has a huge heart, huge will to win, and he's a local boy. What I didn't like about him was his absolute refusal to change his game up. He never did learn to keep his feet still in the pocket, he never throws the ball downfield (time & again Terrell Owens had 1 on 1 coverage and the ball never went his way), and I think the drunk driving incident in San Jose was the last straw.

What the 49ers MUST do now is figure out a way to re-sign Terrell Owens to a long-term contract. All of last season, TO made it obvious that if there were changes at QB, he would be willing to stay. The 49ers CANNOT afford to lose both players. Tim Rattay is very capable of running this team and he knows how to get TO the ball - which, I have to say, is a priority. Owens is the most versatile WR in the NFL, and if it weren't for Garcia being basically BLIND on occassions, I'm willing to bet TO would compete with Marvin Harrison in every statistical category.

Hopefully Jeff gets a starting job elsewhere, though (Dallas??). He's a good QB and whoever does land him will have a great player for a few years.

Damn, well this is to bad, but I do think they need to get the ball to TO, magic happens when that man has the ball. I dunno who is gonna replace Garcia. Rattay is alright and i suppose he could word for this season. Now they NEED to keep TO though! BTW Garcia is pretty old as far as QBs go too (35 or somthing I think)

Well, so much for TO staying a Niner. Now I'm fukcing ****sed. Forget the players on the field. The front office has been killing the 49ers ever since Carmen Policy and Eddie DeBartolo, Jr. left. John York doesn't know a damn thing about running a football team, Terry Donahue knows absolutely nothing about being a general manager (even after Bill Walsh tutored him!) and by firing Steve Mariucci and hiring Dennis Erickson, the 49ers have done nothing but point the ship toward the ground and are heading there fast.

And I don't want to hear from them about salary cap issues or anything else. I said it before and I'll say it again: the front office is crap; they never think out of the box and never think long-term (that's the why they keep having to restructure contracts and provide stupid incentives but then they can't pay it). One of the last great franchises in all of sports has officially joined the ranks of the Celtics.

I hate how people think Rattay is so much better than Garcia just because he had his little winning streak but dont concider all of which games Garcia has lead the 49ers to victory...jee:angry:y:

It's not so much about Tim Rattay being so much better than Jeff Garcia, it's about how Tim Rattay has the potential and the youth to be much better than Jeff Garcia. I won't forget for a second how Jeff Garcia took over for Steve Young (unexpectedly) and led the 49ers to be in the top 5 in all offensive categories pretty much every single year since.

But, if you want to base it on games that Jeff Garcia won...tell me, when was the last time the 49ers beat the Rams or the Packers with Jeff Garcia as a QB? Passing wise, Tim Rattay is better. He can throw the ball short, middleLONGb>, and the screens out of the backfield. He stays in the pocket going through progressions, whereas Garcia would get ansy and start to scramble. Granted, Jeff Garcia does have alot better mobility out of the pocket, but that does nothing when you start picking up concussions and you have a bad back.

Maybe it's just me, but I see alot more composure and patience by Rattay in the pocket than Garcia.

    • But that is most likely what they referred to with their comment. Although, I was sure I saw headlines about Microsoft confirming it shortly after it popped up in media, but I cannot find any such articles anymore. The latest ones say Microsoft denies this, so it would be interesting to know what actually happened. They never explained what they meant by his email being cancelled, I assume he used Microsoft 365 or something as email service and that access was shut down, meaning he wouldn't get his stored emails even if he switched email service. And if his email address used Microsoft domains, it would be very easy to actually "cancel" his email.
    • Microsoft expands European sovereign cloud offerings with new data and key controls by Paul Hill Microsoft has announced today that it’s expanding its European Digital Commitment with Microsoft Sovereign Cloud (MSC). The MSC is a comprehensive set of sovereignty solutions that has now been expanded to include Data Guardian, where European personnel control access to European data, External Key Management, where customers control encryption keys, Regulated Environment Management, which provides simplified policy management, and Microsoft 365 Local for critical productivity services in private cloud environments. Through MSC, Microsoft is meeting its obligations under European law. This solution aims to give customers in the EU greater choice, control over data privacy, and more digital resilience. It builds on the existing European Data Boundary, which stores customer data in the EU. Deeper dive into Sovereign Public and Private Cloud options Microsoft offers three different solutions as part of the wider Microsoft Sovereign Cloud: Sovereign Public Cloud, Sovereign Private Cloud, and National Partner Clouds. The Public and Private Cloud offerings are still in preview and will be generally available later this year. The Sovereign Public Cloud is an evolution of Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty and is available across all European data centers for all European customers. When you use this, your data stays in Europe under European law, with operations and access controlled by European personnel. Any workloads already running in European data centers do not need to be migrated. The Sovereign Private Cloud is designed for hybrid or air-gapped environments and allows the customer to have full control over the physical environment. It supports workloads on Azure Local and integrates Microsoft 365 Local and security platforms. Finally, National Partner Clouds are designed for government and critical infrastructure. These clouds are hosted by government-approved local operators separate from Microsoft. Some examples include Bleu with Orange and Capgemini for SecNumCloud in France and Delos Cloud, an SAP subsidiary, for German government requirements. Impact on European organizations and the broader cloud ecosystem With the Microsoft Sovereign Cloud, the Redmond giant hopes that its solutions will enable organizations in the European Union to grow, compete, and lead on their own terms with more control. To help organizations make the most of their new solutions, it has launched a preview of the new Microsoft Sovereign Cloud specialization in the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program. The specialization will help European customers identify partners that have demonstrated capabilities in supporting their “Sovereign Cloud ambitions on Microsoft technology.” Microsoft said that its preview partners include Accenture, Arvato, Area, Atos, Crayon, Capgemini, Dell Technologies, IBM, Inspark, Infosys, Lenovo, Leonardo, NTT Data, Orange, Telefonica, and Vodafone. The solutions announced by Microsoft will help businesses in the European Union comply with the stringent data rules that the bloc has so far introduced. In an increasingly unstable world, Europe’s actions will mean that its data is more secure.
    • Thanks for your linked article of off site examples of Windows Next hate, for a moment I thought you were lumping in all neowin users and reporters into that same category.
    • Man, the only Vista hate I remember was the fact you needed a pretty decent GPU to enable Aero Glass, and they also turned it off until you Activated Windows (no try before you buy). Point me to any articles we did on Vista hate? People shouldn't throw around accusations like this without at least backing themselves up.
