I don't get it - Page 1 says that the themes come in both Compact and Normal Start menu (except Whistler - can't wait!), but they don't appear to be available for me. The previous version (maybe not the most recent) worked fine, so I don't think it's my machine... I've got Blue, Dotted, Green, and Red, the Mono versions of each (which just changes the color a bit), then Whistler. Am I missing something???

Fugacious added "!! Only Mini Startpanel at the moment !!" on the 1st page of this thread, so there's no full-sized start panels in v2 at this moment in time.

Actually, the first post read:

Blue, Green, Red and Dotted substyles

in two Colorvariations.

New special substyle: codename Whistler

!! Only Mini Startpanel at the moment !!

So you can see why one might think, such as myself, that the mini startpanel might only be in relation to the Whistler theme. Just so know one thinks I didn't read the post.

I love Hmmxp, use it longer then other styles.

But I've a problem with the last update (version 2), I'm missing the grey color style and there all in compact mode not the full mode

Is this only with me or are there other persons here with this problem?

I have the same problem with the "all programs" in my german XP.

A probable fix for this (I think) would be the removal of the "icon" in front of the text. If I knew how to do that with Style Builder without messing up the whole VS I'd do it by myself. But I'm still hoping that Fugacious or anybody else could fix that for everybody who has that problem

First of all, I love this VS. It's super clean, easy to use, and attracts just the right amount of eyeballs here at work.

There is only one bug that I've run into. It's not bad, not even really annoying, but a bug, nonetheless.

I have my Quick Launch icons set to large. Note the split highlight.

Overall, really nice work on this! It's one of my faves.

I love HmmXP - Mono Dotted but there is one serios problem on the titlebar with 120 DPI fonts (125% normal size)

Some visual styles like Slate XP and most "Longhorn Aero" based skins display the title bar buttons correctly so it must be possible to display this correctly somehow

*Edit: Nevermind about the magic pink thing... It was just a mistake in the optimization, which changed the color slightly. So yay, nice theme.

Since I got this theme, I've been making some mods to it. Like 1px borders (which required some tweaking of your default graphics and margins), and the latest thing I tried to do was to optimize the theme by indexing all the bitmaps. That didn't work out too well, as you can see... I'm gonna go back through Gimp and see if anything is amiss with the colors, but I find it strange that the magic pink on the caption bars was affected, but not any other instance of magic pink appears non-transparent... So...

Bugs I've seen so far: Control Panel. I guess I'll fix that on my own eventually.

Say, would you mind sending me a copy of the theme with just the watercolor style (no blue/green/red/mono)? I've been trying to mod it, and have to admit, the 1000+ files that I'm working with are a bit unwieldly. I tried deleting them myself, but with the tools I have, it could take a very long time. I'm guessing you might have a faster way to do it (and know how to do it safely for that matter). You can PM me for an address to send it to. I'd also be willing to transfer to you the modified bitmaps and *.ini files which make this 1px border mod work, along with all the optimized graphics (if I can solve the magic pink problem).

Here's what it looks like with 1px borders... All the graphics have been indexed, so the filesize is smaller and the images do not contain any irrelevant information.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
