bikeman25
Hello All Have a Desktop with Bluetooth 5.3 and Galaxy S25 Phone with 5.3 as well i believe, anyways when i transfer files from PC to Phone, it doesn't seem to go that fast, unless im sending too many files at once--usually 2 at a time typically Am using an Antena Extension from an old Wifi 6E card from my older Desktop, to get better signal, i still have the original antennas that was on back of Lian Li Lancool 216 ARGB Case if i should use those instead to get better signal, i mainly use the Bluetooth portion and Internet is 2.5Gig Ethernet Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/ Share on other sites
Sayueri
I recommend an app called Localsend. It's available for Android, Macos and Windows. I use it to transfer large files between devices connected to the same wifi. Much faster than Bluetooth. goretsky and hellowalkman 1 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598989871 Share on other sites
bikeman25
Ok will check that app out, and go from there Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598989872 Share on other sites
goretsky Supervisor Posted May 27, 2025 Supervisor Share Posted May 27, 2025 Hello, Bluetooth 5.3 transfers 2 megabits per second (aka 250 kilobytes per second) in Low Energy mode, and 50 megabits per second (aka 6.25 megabytes per second) using a full power connection, according to Wikipedia, plus a few vendor pages I looked at as well. Those are presumably theoretical transfer rates and don't account for protocol overhead or variances due to signal obstructions and interference from other devices in the 2.4 GHz spectrum. As @Sayueri noted, there are apps like LocalSend which work over Wi-Fi that are (1) cross-platform; and (2) a lot faster than using Bluetooth. I'd suggest trying something like that and see how that works for you. bikeman25
Ok Thank you Will check out Local Send, also just updated via Device Manager, change settings, update driver and WIndows update found a newer driver for my MediaTek Wifi 6E part of Motherboard, and Bluetooth as well. ((MSI motherboard site doesn't update the Mediatek Wifi and Bluetooth drivers that often)) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598989961 Share on other sites

They'll have the latest. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598989985 Share on other sites
bikeman25
Well i can't find any to Download directly from Mediatek, believe me i looked around lol. So was getting them from MSI motherboard support site or Windows Updates since got machine in July 2024 Did search by Model of the Wireless & Bluetooth chip on Motherboard, did find Mediatek drivers on Microsoft Catalog--latest as im gonna be i think 3/28/2025 for The Wireless Adapter, and Bluetooth 3/14/2025 with higher version number than had on MSI's support site. Think latest gonna be Edited May 27, 2025 by bikeman25 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598989988 Share on other sites
sphbecker Moderator Posted May 28, 2025 Moderator Share Posted May 28, 2025 Bluetooth is just not meant for file transfer. As others have suggested, I'd look into a network based file transfer. bikeman25 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598990218 Share on other sites
bikeman25
Yes will check out Network based options and go from there in this case Thank you all for the replies! Honestly Microsoft might have feature built in if i enabled Phone Link, and thought there was a send to phone option in the past i used with my old Galaxy S22--that possibly worked over Wifi, but not sure if it did or if it used Bluetooth as well WOW that File Transfer was fast using the Phone Link related Send to Phone option, think definitely using the 6E Wifi capabilties of both devices--like literally 30 seconds it took Edited May 28, 2025 by bikeman25 goretsky 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1455133-bluetooth-transfer-speed-question/#findComment-598990219 Share on other sites
