Site is VERY slow loading

I was on Vivaldi mobile while at work, the front page loaded fine but any forum topic wouldn't load.

Rest assured our server guy @DaveLeggis investigating the issue, he told me this morning that after running a script to monitor traffic he pulled 20GB of logs and is looking for a pattern to the disruptions.

It's been a while since the complaints of site being slow were started and I mentioned earlier in topic that I wasn't having any issues with site then, but it sure seems to be running slow today.

Yes, it is. Some clicks seem to be fast and then poof, takes 10+ seconds for it do anything.

I had to wait 90 seconds yesterday, it's still a bit slow today.

Yeah been like it all afternoon. We did have a viral article though.. the Microsoft Copilot is now injecting ads into pull requests on GitHub one is getting a lot of traffic.

yup.  the neowin site is sometimes slow on some pages & faster on a few others on my end lately

I'm not experiencing this now. Dave did some tweaking last night which definitely helped and I haven't had a slow down since (been working on the site all morning).

I think we've identified the attack vector, now to see if we can block it.

I won't discuss details of it unless Dave is happy with that and we've actually identified and been able to block the cause.

In ANY CASE it is an attack on Neowin.

Comments load slowly, sometimes after 10 seconds, and the same happens when posting. Just reporting.
