I believe the Radio Shack/Tandy Corp ,TRS-80 launched in 1977 as well. Yep August 3rd 1977

I suspect the name and the date of the first personal computer is going to be endlessly up for debate.  But a trade show might be a lot easier to pin down.

I remember, not to well those Radio Shack days, specifically the early ones when they catered to hobbyists looking to build their own computer.   A lot of enjoyable things from those days, long gone, including small privately owned bookstores and all night automats.
