Ahead of Google I/O 2026, Google today announced Gemini Intelligence on Android, a new set of AI-powered features that will bring deeper Gemini integration to Android phones and other devices.
First, the new Gemini Intelligence features are built on Google's updated design language based on Material 3 Expressive, featuring purposeful animations to reduce distractions.
After months of testing in the US, app automation is expanding to more users. With app automation, Gemini Intelligence can complete multi-step tasks across apps. For example, users can ask Gemini to refer to a screenshot and add all the items in it to their Instacart cart. Similarly, users can take a photo of a travel brochure and ask Gemini to find a similar tour on Expedia. Google highlighted that users will remain in control, with Gemini acting only after a command.
Starting next month, Google is also bringing Gemini to Chrome on Android. When available, Gemini will be able to help users research, summarize, and compare content across the web. The new Chrome Auto Browse feature will also handle simple web tasks, such as booking appointments or reserving parking spots.
In general, the autofill feature in smartphones helps users fill out forms with common text, including names, emails, and addresses. With Gemini’s Personal Intelligence, Android will be able to use information from connected apps to fill out more complex forms. For example, if you have connected your passport app, you can fill in passport details with a single tap wherever required.
Rambler is a new Gemini Intelligence feature in Gboard that can turn natural speech into polished text by removing filler words and restructuring spoken thoughts into clean text messages. The best part is that Rambler can also handle multilingual input.
Finally, Gemini Intelligence will have a brand-new feature called Create My Widget, which allows users to create custom Android widgets using natural language. For example, users can create a weather widget focused only on wind speed and rain.
The new Gemini Intelligence capabilities listed above will be available this summer on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones. Later, they will be expanded to other Android devices, including watches, cars, glasses, and laptops.
