60% of evaluated AI Scribe systems mixed up prescribed drugs in patient notes, auditors say

As part of the procurement process, officials conducted evaluations using simulated doctor-patient recordings. Medical professionals then reviewed the original recordings alongside the AI-generated notes to evaluate their accuracy.

1. Nine out of 20 AI systems reportedly “fabricated information and made suggestions to patients' treatment plans” that weren’t discussed in the recordings.

2.Twelve of the 20 systems evaluated inserted incorrect drug information into patient notes,

3. Seventeen of the systems “missed key details about the patients’ mental health issues” that were discussed in the recordings.

4. Six of the systems “missed the patients’ mental health issues fully or partially or were missing key details,” per the report.

I can verify this from personal experience reading the summaries and details of personal medical evaluations.

IMO one of the big problems with healthcare in America today, is it has become too computerized.

1. The patient sees the doctor and describes what is ailing the patient.  He could describe his ailments to a computer AI agent.   That is coming.

2. The doctor (AI agent) then has tests run on the patient.

3. A computer processess the results of those tests and then makes recommendations on how to procede with the patient's healthcare.

4. The doctor (AI agent) will review the recommendations put forth by the computer and then proscribe some medication or procedure for the patient based upon the computer readout.

In effect, the doctor does nothing and could effectively be eliminated from the whole process.   They could be replaced with an AI agent and computer, unless they are needed to perform a procedure.
