Over the last few months, I've realized that when people talk about improving a network, the conversation usually revolves around faster routers, Wi-Fi standards, or better switches.

But the more I read and learn, the more it seems that the physical infrastructure is often overlooked. Poor-quality cabling or fiber components can easily become the weakest link, even if everything else is high-end.

I recently spent some time reading about different fiber networking components and installation practices, and it was a good reminder that reliability starts long before the data reaches the router.

I'm curious about everyone else's experience.

Have you ever solved a network issue by improving the underlying infrastructure instead of replacing networking hardware?

I'd love to hear real-world experiences from people managing home labs, offices, or enterprise networks.
