The server needs to support ASP.net. I think only windows servers can support asp.net.

Just want to update that the ASP.NET Forums are now called the CommunityServer :: Forums, and are now integrated into a product called "CommunityServer". CommunityServer includes the forums system, a blogging engine, and a photo gallery.
