ShareReactor shut down

Recommended Posts

Well-known P2P site ShareReactor has been apparently shut down by the Swiss authorities. According to news sources, Swiss Judical Inquiry Department of Thurgau has shut down the site due copyright infringements. The site was probably the world's largest site that listed direct links to pirated material in P2P networks, using so-called ed2k links that work with eDonkey2000-compatible clients (such as eMule).
Internet-Site taken offline

FRAUENFELD (kapo) Due to the suspicion of breach of copyright and trademark laws the cantonal judicial Inquiry department of Thurgau has taken down an Internet-Site that served as a link platform for filesharing offerings. A process concerning these matters against the 25 year old owner from Frauenfeld is underway.

The Internet-Site located in Frauenfeld was online for about 30 months and last had over 220.000 hits per day bevor it was taken offline by the Thurgau officials. The in search engines toprated site worked as a anchorpoint for links to downloads of copyright and trademark protectet games and movies that were offered on the filesharing network.

After a complaint from several large corporations, represented by the swiss association against piracy, the cantonal judicial inquiry department of Thurgau initiated an investigation, seized the servers in Frauenfeld and had the site taken offline.

The responsible owner, a 25 year old swiss proved to be very cooperative in explaining matters at hand. The inquiries continue and will take some time.

Yeah, people ont he slyck forums are pondering that his lawyer must've told him not to talk to the public, or that the authorities told him that.

Its a shame though... He did everything that he did for free, and now he's the one who has to pay for it :/ It was inevitable, though.

Slyck News Story

In short the owner arrested, his house searched, server hadware confiscaded. All done by complain by some "major" corporations (not disclosed which).

would it be against the forum rules to post additional info (explanations by some of co-owners of SR) if it links to forum where warez is acceptable?

probablly....everyone is sooooo sensitive anymore....gosh....its like the FCC is right here too...

can't cuss, cant tell things we know....sigh...who cares if people get offended...its what makes life worth living.... :p

kenny, Opaul, is a shame that you have that impression about the forum, so bad that you clicked that agreement link when you signed up here.

Oh nos! the bad mods are coming for us!

BTW, this thread is still open, isnt it?

# No Warez (links) & Cracks: help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to software, posting about it, and suggesting to get it.

in the PM i got way after it happened...well five minuts later....lol

i guess i violated the "posting about it"....since i did not link/suggest to get it... ;)

anyway I would like to thank the mod that actually responded...which means they were doing the job we pay them to-----wait, we don't pay them

They'll probably remove this one saying they don't support other sites or something.

Actually, we say we are not a support forum for other sites, as in if mess.be is not responding for 2 hours we are not the support forum for them. Sharereactor closing is news, not a temporary DNS glitch or something like that.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with ad blockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Samsung Browser'. It has very little bloat and is a nice-looking web browser with an inbuilt 'Ad blocker'. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. This browser can also install Chrome extensions. I have a system wide Ad blocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the web browser, but over the whole system. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt ad blocker because of that.
