Relentless04
I have used linux for servers before but now I am interested in the desktop side of linux. As it is I already use some programs that do have versions for linux (firefox, thunderbird, gaim, ect.), except for my music player. On windows I currently use foobar2000, but would like to know if anyone knows of a similar program for linux. Thanks. BTW, ive included a screenshot for anyone who isnt familure with foobar2000
neoufo51
You do know there is a fresh new 0.8 version with lots of bugfixes and brand new features, right? http://foobar2000.org/ And here is what is new since your version. 0.8: - almost all components starting from some 0.7 beta SDK still work, though recompilation with new SDK is recommended to take advantage of new features - "open" dialog now lists supported file types - file modification time tracking, goodbye "reload file info" - file size tracking - new menu item config, massively improved menu system - improved matroska component (fully extendable through third-party components, improved speed, etc) - fixed UI glitch in masstagger - masstagger scripts can be now exported to files - new diskwriter - new albumlist - replaygain shows total progress - toolbar menu now completely fakes regular menu behaviors - found a way to get rid of dreaded beep when pressing alt+key - various minor UI tweaks, improved playlist tabs - fixed multimedia keys displayed in shortcuts page - AIFF input fixes - FLAC input fixes - SDK side change: all uppercase/lowercase character conversion had to be moved to utf8api, some string8 methods are missing (replaced with utf8api functions) - new icons, thanks to picmixer - improved drag&drop support, thanks to foosion - improved commandline handling (wildcards, relative paths, etc) - integrated commandline tagger in foo_masstag.dll, run foobar2000 /tag:help for info 0.7.7b [hotfix]: - fixed another issue with unicode character case conversion - fixed foo_mpeg4u problem with multiple metadata fields of the same type 0.7.7a [hotfix]: - fixed issue with unicode character case conversion 0.7.7: - improved display of keyboard shortcut list - font selection for title formatting editor - last directory for loading/saving playlists remembered separately - "screen reader compatibility mode" in default UI - fixed rare random lockup when changing tracks - fixed problem with waveOut / seeking - fixed some issues in MP4 parser - added FLAC and Vorbis decoders for new Matroska parser component - improvements in MP4 utilities component (output directory selection etc) - fixed bugs in floatingpoint WAV input again 0.7.6: - fixed potential rare multithread safety issue in the core - fixed problem with APE input skipping last samples - added "masstagger/copy tags" rightclick - rewritten MP4 support, integrated with standard inputs, now also supports MP3 files wrapped into MP4 container - AAC decoder moved to standard inputs - fixed bugs in MPC seeking, MPC+CUE much faster now - added proper tab navigation in preferences, thanks to foosion for pointing how to do that - new component for converting MP4<=>MP3/AAC 0.7.5: - changes in dithering, removed random noise tables to prevent repeating noise artifact (thanks to << racial epithet >>G for reporting), dithering slightly slower now - new default playlist formatting, based on Case's strings - reworked foo_ui_std seekbar code - SDK: easier control over playback_flow_control settings, components can now access diskwriter settings - SDK: string_list_nulldelimited class, strongly recommended if you use extra_items for titleformatting anywhere (someones component passes them with wrong terminator according to crash logs i read) - minor tweak in CDDA input, now creates separate "Audio CD" playlist - improved CD burning component

metal_dragen Veteran Posted March 18, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 18, 2004 As long as you have the GNOME and GTK+ libraries, it will run just fine.
