DryLandFish
Ok i got a game that runs in dos, but when i run it, it says "ERROR: An Extended Memory Manager is allready installed XMS Driver not installed" I tried to fix this problem myself so I did some research and downloaded HIMEM.SYS but dont really know what to do with it or if i need it at all! Can anyone help me fix this problem? Thanks!
baphomet_irl Veteran Posted February 19, 2002 Veteran Share Posted February 19, 2002 did u try right cliking the game's .exe and setting its compatability mode to 95? a lot of the dos games will refuse when they see hte OS is NT based... Quake1 pops up a window saying 'Quake will not run on NT4.0' eheh the problem is to do with 'conventional memory' - MS-DOS could only access 640k.... if the worst comes to the worst, make urself a dos boot disk, with minimal drivers installed (althou if u have a USB peripheral they probably wont work) - give it a try anyway... * me gets nostalgic about using boot floppies for Wing Commander and watching the 'Dos4gw protected mode' text come up on the screen :) *
