mike3169
I'm trying to change my network card that got fried. I have tried literally 20 diff. network carrds in all the slots and everytime it comes up saying Unable to install this device, it may not work properly. No matter what I try, updating drivers, letting windows install it, it does not work. I had this problem before and the only way around it then was to Wipe out my PC and reinstall Windows with THAT device in there. Does anybody have any ideas for me please?? mtgriffith
Did you remove the drivers for the old NIC? Go to device mangler and click view, show hidden devices.

mike3169
I do have Admin Privelages. Even if I log into Admin, I can't add the NIC card. There are 2 things left over from the previous NIC card that I can't uninstall. 3com 3C905TX-Based Ethernet Adapter (Generic) - Packet Scgeduler Miniport 3com 3C905TX-Based Ethernet Adapter (Generic) #2 - Packet Scgeduler Miniport I can disable them, but still wont install other NIC. If I try to uninstall them, it says "Unable to remove this device it may be required for system to boot." I have tried in Normal and Safe mode to do everything to no avail.
