WinXP Critical Update

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering if the Critical Update is safe to get for us not so legal owners of XP. Does it have any kind of tracking in it or is it just what it says, a simple Critical Update?

Just wondering cause I don't want to get in trouble with MS even though I going to purchase it in October...

According to them, they don't send the information back to MS, but well.. who knows? Beside, I don't think they'll be tracking you down and send FBI on your front door bust you up, they might just send some sort of program that when activate will halt your XP as soon as you enter a new valid CD-Key.. :p

If there is indeed a critical update (as several people have said) then I think Tikimotel is right. By default Windows is set to automatically check for and download updates. However it is supposed to tell you when it is about to install one so maybe this isn't possible.

Go to Control Panel > System > Automatic Updates to change these settings.
