Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0

Great features I love: (besides long range, high sensitivity and accuracy)

:) Tilt wheel technology

You can scroll not only horizontally, but also vertically with the magic wheel.

(Compatible in MS applications, Acrobat and more)

:) Faster scroll configurable

This feature is extremely good if you want to scroll a long long article from the top to the bottom.

:) Extra Long battery life

Up to 6 months! Much longer than Logitech cordless mouse.

:) Comfortable design

Good for big hands.

:) Customizable button

Really customizable on all 5 buttons!

:) Multiple color selections

Imperfection:

:x Only two colors available in my area

Platinum (Which is the one I am using) and Black Leather.

:x With two AA batteries, it's a little bit heavy

But it can actually work with one AA battery only.

:x Can not install PS/2 and USB drivers seperately

It conflict a little bit with my laptop pointing device when I first install it. I have to uninstall the driver of my laptop pointing device first, and then after installing driver for this mouse, uninstall the PS/2 part, and reinstall driver of my laptop pointing device. This problem occured not only on my laptop (IBM), but also appear on a Toshiba.

:x Right hand only mouse

Overall:

It is by far the best mouse I've ever had. (9.5/10)

Pricing:

This week if you are in Canada, you are LUCKY!

You can get one for only CAD$49.99! Really Great price!!

 Platinum version from Futureshop(Till April 30th)

 Black Leather version from Staples (Till May 11th)

I just got the wired version of this a few days ago. It's very comfortable, the scroll wheel is awesome, and I love the back/forward thumb buttons! :woot: Sure, it's only right handed, which is a drawback, but it's still an awesome mouse

I've had this mouse since like beginning of january...since I use mine constantlly...i changed batteries like... 2-3 weeks ago(end of march)....so that came to about 3 months...i beleive that batteries were included with it when i bought it...so its normal that those die faster....

anyway mine is the platnum....

the only problem is the middle mouse button(scrollwheel)...is picky about what games use it...(the pressing of it...the wheel works fine....just wish games used the horizontal too...)

also you forgot to mention the range from the transmitter/reciver is at 6ish feet...

i have the black version of this mouse at home, and i must say it is brilliant,

the soft scrolling mouse wheel took me an hour to get used to, but now it feels lovely

only bad thing i have found is that no games have picked up on the side scroling wheel idea yet :/

other than that, top marks, brilliant mouse

I've got the black leather edition, which came with my keyboard, really don't care for it much. I prefer the "clicky" scroll wheel, and the extra buttons on either side. The tilt wheel is mostly a gimmick, since it only works in a few MS apps. The wheel is so hard to press that I had to assign middle-click to the small side button. 6/10

My housemate has it, and the scroll wheel feels really really weird to me. I don't like that feeling. Also, I didn't know that's the mouse where you can do left and right scrolling, so normal users probably would not actually use that feature until they read the manual. Either way, that's not the standard yet, so I think it is only taking off at MS, not anywhere else, like Logitech or so on.

So far I am still using IntelliMouse Optical 1.1A USB and PS/2 Compatble (Wired of course), and Wireless Optical Mouse Blue. I still love the feel of those mouse.

This is extremely good mouse for everything except for games. Well you can use it in games if you go to the control panel and turn off the new scroll wheel style. Quick to respond, long battery life, love the side scrolling, good design, unlike Logiteqs mice that won't fit into hands on anyone I know. I would like this mouse to be larger though but still it's larger than most from logiteq.

    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
    • Because of the EU (a good thing) newer android devices been getting 5 years worth of security patches. Except some Motorola which found the loop hole, and offer ZERO updates. In addition, Google for years have been making where it can patch some stuff by updating the core Google Play Store itself.  As echoed earlier,  you take the security risk in to your own hand beyond supported.
