The X800 is here

Is it true about its performance stated below?:

As well as the 12 Pixel pipelines, the X800 Pro also sports six vertex pipelines, 256MB of GDDR 3 memory running at 900MHz, a 256-bit memory interface and a core VPU speed of 475MHz.

The X800 XT Platinum Edition on the other hand backs up its 16 pixel pipelines with six vertex pipelines, 256MB of GDDR 3 memory running at 1.12GHz, a 256-bit memory interface and a 520MHz core VPU speed.

too lazy to read these 14928523 articles.. so bottom line? they're pretty close in performance? what about pricing? cuz that would be my deciding vote, or dual dvi :)

Read my suggestion: (BASED ON PRICE/PERFORMANCE RATIO)

Get the X800 Pro as it matches/beats 6800 Ultra if you want to go ATi.

Get the 6800 GT if you want to go nVidia.

Click here for the realtime ATi Demos. Should run fine on current ATi hardware (Radeon 9500+), if not slowly.

EDIT: Or maybe not. My girlfriend just tried it with her softmodded Radeon 9500 card and it produced an error regarding pixel shader version (asking for PS 2.b). However, she's not running the latest catalysts so that may be why.

ATI still the king?

Where's ATI's 3.0 support this round? Needed, I'd say.....unless you want to buy another 500.00 card next year.

Where's ATI's onboard video encoder/decoder?

Where's ATI's 16 pipe, 2 pixel shader per cycle GPU? Oh, next year......sorry.

ATI reigns with design though!! Kick's Nvid's butt all over with it's lower power consumption, and single slot designs.

ATI also reigns in price, even if both high end cards are priced at 500.00, you need to spend another 100 on Nvid if you have a cheap power supply.....and ATI's mem chips still aren't using heatsinks...so design reigns. Nvid remains on top for leading us into the next era of technology....the X800XT is a 9800XT on steriods; the NV40 is an entirely new GPU from the NV30 line.

The king? I wouldn't go that far.....I'd say it boils down to what you want to spend your cash on. Games, or games/video encoding.

In all the "benchies" I've seen, the two knock each other out in different scenarios....so, don't take this personally either way. I love seeing the technology both companies are presenting....as each has it's own ups and downs.

Me hopes back over to the nVidia camp. Ta Ta ATI.

looks like i'll be putting up my ATI 9800 PRO (XT BIOS) on ebay or neobay soon :D

nVidia:

1. Shader 3.0 support.

2. Higher Color Precision.

ATi

1. Lack of Shader 3.0 Support

2. Lower Color Precision.

So you think nVidia is the way to go now?

Not really in the mood to have to buy 2 ATI cards to eventually get Shader 3.0 Support. First these without it and then another later on with. Personally I don't see PCI-e in my near future so i don't expect to upgrade my Graphics card for at least 2+ years.

I'd rather buy 1 SUPER Fast nVidia card with the support. According the benchmarks its damn good too. :D

Some of you may say well there's nothing with Shader 3.0 support yet. Yeah but do you Still want to have to buy 2 ATi cards to get there? that is if you are going to buy an X800 card then its succesor.

Sounds kind wack to me IMO. :s

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
    • To be clear I'm anti trump, the bigger point is why review this game at all?
    • Trillion dollar Microsoft has to reduce spending by hurting more people. Good job Microsoft. Good Job Asha.
    • That's a shame. The big Xbox reset when Phil and Sarah left and then Asha came on and brought a new team of executives, and all the layoffs last year and saying that the ABK merger wouldn't result in redundancies I am surprised they are calling for yet another reset and yet more layoffs.
    • Arkane, Ninja Theory, and Double Fine might be on the chopping block too.
