Running Mac OS X on x86 PC!

After you run Darwin a first time to make the partition, you must boot darwin one more time.

Where you entered 'shell' the last time, you have to enter 1 (hit Enter) and afterward type 0 (and hit Enter). Then Darwin would create the bootable partitions. When Darwin starts to install, you can shut down PPC and reboot it with the OS-X installation iso.

I can run iPhoto and iTunes, albeit not fast and can't do much with em but I can definitely move around the desktop and do stuff.

You can use iTunes and stuff and I can get beat at a game of Chess (albeit, I wasn't really trying too hard, not that it would have made a difference!)

i never had to do that. :blink:

I just booted off the 10.2 isos and used disk utility to create my partition and setup the disk. :D

ok, someone help me plz. I finished my install but now i dont know how to boot from the the img file. The only thing that shows up is the cdrom install again. Thx

I am really thinking about buying mac os x but I want to try it first. Should i go to a friend who has it (legally) and try it on their computer? I think that by the time i buy os x that a new verson of the emulator will be out for me to play with.

Installed CD1 and also used Disk Manager to format the "hard drive".

Upon "reboot", the system could not boot from the "hard drive".

I suppose this means you really DO need to format the "hard drive" with Darwin.

@XP-Viper: You have to make a change in your Config-File, so that PPC isn't booting automatically from the first device. Search the line:

prom_bootmethod = "auto"

and change it into "select". So when you reboot you can choose the corect partition...

@Starman: Yes, I suppose too. All these, which have installed OS X without Darwin would have problems, when they want to reboot ;)

OK im having a problem, I formatted using teh disk utility and i get this. I think I know the problem but not sure. Ill try to fix it.

Same problem as the problems above...

You have to use Darwin first. On the PearPC site, there is a short complete docu of what you have to do.

Shut down the ppc and run installation from begining, you'll see everything will be fine.
