Running Mac OS X on x86 PC!

I am running 512Mb Ram on a P4 2.8Ghz HT.

I tried to change the boot method to "auto" and use verbose method, but when I do so I get the FALIURE: DiskArbStart() --> 1102 message.

I got that message the last time when I was in verbose, and when I turned it off my install started working again. strange...

Here is my config file below...

===========================

# PearPC Configuration File

#

# Resolution

#

# 0: 640x480x8 (indexed)

# 1: 640x480x15

# 2: 640x480x32

# 3: 800x600x8 (indexed)

# 4: 800x600x15

# 5: 800x600x32

# 6: 1024x768x8 (indexed)

# 7: 1024x768x15

# 8: 1024x768x32

#

# The indexed modes are unsupported.

#

# default: 4

ppc_start_resolution = 4

#

# Redraw interval (in ms)

# must be between 1 and 999

#

# If you set this higher, PearPC will spend less time doing redraws (and so run faster)

# but feel less responsive. You should adjust this to your computer speed and personal

# preference.

#

redraw_interval_msec = 200

#

# Loader

#

#

# Boot method

# this can be

# 1. "auto", prom will boot the first bootable partition found (default)

# 2. "select", prom will show you a list of bootable partitions

# 3. "force", prom will load and boot the local file prom_loadfile

#

prom_bootmethod = "select"

# Example of how to use "force":

#prom_bootmethod = "force"

#prom_loadfile = "test/yaboot"

#prom_env_bootpath = "disk"

#

# bootargs: don't change unless you know what you are doing

# machargs: set to "-v" to get a verbose startup

#

prom_env_bootargs = ""

prom_env_machargs = ""

#

# This is needed if you want to boot Mac OS X

#

prom_driver_graphic = "video.x"

# This will adjust the position of the initial page table (don't change)

#page_table_pa = 104857600

#

# PCI IDE Config

#

# Drive type will be set according to file extension:

# .img: Harddisk (filesize must be multiple of 516096)

# .iso: CD-Rom

# Or you can override this by specifying the type via

# pci_ide0_master_type / pci_ide0_slave_type

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1

pci_ide0_master_image = "pearpc-6gib.img"

#pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"

pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1

#pci_ide0_slave_image = "darwin-701.iso"

pci_ide0_slave_image = "c:\pearpc\osx.iso"

#pci_ide0_slave_image = "/dev/cdrom"

pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom"

#

# Network (unavailable on windows)

#

pci_3c90x_installed = 0

pci_3c90x_mac = "de:ad:ca:fe:12:34"

#

# USB

#

pci_usb_installed = 1

#

# NVRAM

#

nvram_file = "nvram"

try this instead:

-----------

#

# bootargs: don't change unless you know what you are doing

# machargs: set to "-v" to get a verbose startup

#

#prom_env_bootargs = ""

#prom_env_machargs = "-v"

prom_env_machargs = ""

------------------

just put # infront of prom_env_bootargs and make it inactive.

I did it and it worked.

my install time was pretty accurate. mine was a total of 5 hours, three for cd1 and 2 for cd2. I don't know why yours is 30 hrs. You may want to install again, do a custom install, and leave of printer and language, they take the install down to about 1.5GB, instead of the normal 3GB.

Never installing the Mac OS before, should the OS boot after installing off of CD1? or do I need to use CD2 as well?? So in my ppccfg.osx config file I need to change the image to osx2.iso so I can boot to the cd and finish?

Thanks,

Unrealism :unsure:

you need CD2, if you used the OSX installer to partition you need to change a few settings on yoru partition table using darwin then boot up CD 2 and continue installation.

What I did is I set the cd to the second one, and used "select" for the boot selection:

#

# Boot method

#?  this can be

#?  1. "auto", prom will boot the first bootable partition found (default)

#?  2. "select", prom will show you a list of bootable partitions

#?  3. "force", prom will load and boot the local file prom_loadfile

#

prom_bootmethod = "select"

This is AFTER the first CD. I selected to boot from the HD.

I still cant seem to get past this after install finishes and MAC OSX Reboots PearPC. After it reboots, I just run ppc ppccfg.osx again and instead of selecting the CDROM method I tell it HD. If I tell it CD it boots install again. hmm... sitting here trying to figure this last few steps out. grrrr...

    • Thanks, Sony and Nintendo, you effectively killed platform-agnostic gaming. Long gone are the days when you could wish to play a specific game on whatever platform you were. Now, you have to buy the hardware just to play that single game. What, you're only interested in THAT game and nothing more? Bad luck, suck it and buy our console.

    • "CRAZIER than ever!" Crazy Taxi: World Tour is officially coming soon by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sega announced it is working on bringing back some of its classic franchises in 2023, and while it has taken some time, the company finally gave fans a look at one of these new projects at the Xbox Games Showcase today, which turned out to be a brand-new Crazy Taxi entry. Watch the debut trailer above, which has snippets of gameplay in between the cinematic bits while blasting a track from The Offspring. Dubbed Crazy Taxi World Tour, this installment is aptly being described as being "CRAZIER than ever!" The director behind the original, Kenji Kanno, is helming this new entry as well, which will come with access to five new cities to drive in, competitive multiplayer modes, a vehicle customization system, and more. Axel is returning as a protagonist as well, but this time a mystery driver is offering him the opportunity to take his adventures to the streets in other countries. This will involve Axel chasing down masked villains that have somehow stolen his taxi, which means even more extreme missions and challenges to overcome. "From transporting passengers at top speed to tackling unique side missions and odd jobs across dynamic maps, there are countless ways to drive crazy and rake in big money," says Sega about this new installment after over 20 years. "Perform outrageous drifts, catch insane air, and drive at crazy speeds across five different cities as you work to deliver passengers and complete a variety of missions and challenges." The studio has even confirmed an in-game Arcade Mode that players will be able to access containing the original games for plenty of nostalgic action. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently slated to release sometime in 2027 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
    • This and Crazy Taxi are the two games that interested me the most from this showcase.
