edmonton
My iBook doesn't come along with an Airport Extreme card. Now that I want to go Wi-Fi, do I have to buy a Airport Extreme card, or I have other options like USB wireless adapter. Thanks in advance! Pilsbury
Either will work (assuming the USB adaptor has Mac drivers), but, I would go for the Airport Extreme card. It's much neater. http://manuals.info.apple.com/Apple_Suppor...82iBookG4UG.PDF shows you how to install it.
clonk
Definately go for the airport card. It is internal so thats one less thing to worry about on the outside, less clutter
configure Veteran Posted May 17, 2004 Veteran Share Posted May 17, 2004 Less battery usage aswell, I suppose although, I'm not 100% certain on this :p
Pilsbury
Less processor usage as well. USB is known to suck about 10% of processor time, even on a modern machine.
edmonton
But it's a lot cheaper if I buy a USB one from D-Link, around CDN$70. Thanks guys for helpful info!
aaron901
internal is always better. :)
MipScript
USB ones are really cheap and dont always work properly lots of problems just get an internal one.
edmonton
Of course internal is better, but considering the price, internal one is 100% more expensive than the external one. Airport Extreme Card is about CDN$140, while D-Link has a USB one that works with Mac costs only $60-70. I may choose D-Link first, and when I have enough money, or when the price drops, I will switch to Airport Extreme. LOL! Thx!
