Frank
I am not sure if this will fix your problem, but you can also try setting up your LAN connection to use DHCP, but then set up an "Alternate" IP address on the second tab in the TCP/IP Configuration. Good Luck!
DTV_Janus
If you are using XP, then set the static IP config in the Alternate tab of TCP/IP.

Frank
I don't THINK (I am wrong sometimes) that you can do this with hardware profiles unless your using two different ways to connect to the networks (For instance, two NICs or a NIC and a Wireless Card). Frank
Are you running Windows XP? (The "No" in your last post threw me off).
lardiop Veteran Posted June 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 3, 2004 @aero9 I have had this problem with several users at work who have a laptop and commute between home and work with their laptop. Never found a way to do what you are talking about. I've been told that the Hardware Profile thing does work, but its an itchy-b to set up
aero9
sorry, i am using windows xp, and i have only one NIC
Frank
Go to your TCP/IP settings for your LAN Connection. Make Sure the options on the first tab say "Obtain my IP Address Automatically". Then click on the advanced tab and fill in your static IP settings. You show then be able to login and not have to change your settings.

Frank
Please post back here to tell us if it does. I have used this when I had two different subnets on my network, but never for two different networks. I would be interested to see if it works.

Frank
I apoliogize, I sent you in the wrong direction. I meant "Alternate Configuration" not "Advanced". It should be under your TCP/IP settings Window.

Fred Derf Veteran Posted June 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted June 3, 2004 one netwok at work it uses auto ip configthe net work at home requires a particular ip setting, how do i avoid changing the setting each time, I assume that your number at work is automatically assigned from a NAT. Therefore it is 10.x.x.x or 172.16.x.x or 192.168.x.x Could you not just purchase a basic NAT for home (if you don't already have one) and configure it to use the same numbering scheme as the office? That would make things VERY easy.
