Firefox 0.9 Expected Release Date Announced

Recommended Posts

The best feature by far in this release is the notification if you close the browser window with multiple tabs. Beffore, if you accidently double clicked on the 'X' on a window above and FF 'X' was right below it, then you were screwed and you had no tabs, which if like me you have tens of at a time.

There was (is) an extension to warn you about having tabs open when you closed FF. Think of all the needless cursing you might have prevented... :p

I hope at least this will make me come to Neowin using Firefox. Right now I have been using IE 7 only to come to Neowin. Sometimes the left panel doesnt load properly in Firefox. Refreshing solves the problem but still I would Firefox over anything else.

I really, really hate Internet Explorer. It's such a bug-infested Piece of Crap (PoC) that it's constantly ripping my nerves.

wov. great news.. according to what i understand one feature will be resuming downloads :D

anybody know any other new features?

I havent see a download manager update, but the neowin article should answer this for you

https://www.neowin.net/articles.php?action=more&id=88

extension and theme manager updates + migration + email integration ;)

very glad they work well for you. I'm pulling aviary now, then have to apply the print patch and remove the precompiled headers and I will be building today's build. Unfortuneately, at 1pm I gotta run out so it probably won't be out till later today.

,Jun 4 2004, 11:18] lol yeah i was about to say.. IE7 = bs.. doesn't exist.

   I didnt mis-spell what I wrote. Search on Google for IE7 and you will get answers.

IE 7 does exist. Except it is not Microsoft authorized/supported.

No, this is an un-authorized version of IE7. All it does is make the existing version web compliant. I have been running it for some time and it works and makes my sites CSS compliant.

Check it out here. Read the instructions and make the changes. Instructions are clearly written and should be followed to the point.

Any changes you make to your system is at your own peril. I take no responsibility if you **** up IE in your system.

that's just a piece of software someone completely not part of MS made. It's uses IE6's core.

Great News! I can barely wait for a new version of firefox! Lets hope this one is better then the .8 version I am using right now. Will .9 support all the current extensions created for .8?

Nope. They have to be updated to the new standards.

Nope. They have to be updated to the new standards.

Yeah but don't worry.. there is a new build in mozilla update site that lets you download the new versions of the extensions.. many extensions authors have already made their extensions compliant with the 0.9 standards. Don't worry.. almost 20 extensions have already been updated.. a lot of them the populary widely used ones such as tabbed browser extensions and adblock.
