What is iMessenger?

iMessenger is a Modification of the original Msn messenger, It contains better usage, quicker access and more understanding. Originally this was a creation I was going to make just for me because i loved the mac style look for msn.

iMesseneger was going to be a standalone messeging protocol for Neowin.. the project was cancelled because soo many people didnt like the idea and little did.

Hi people, Didnt you all expect more in msn 6.2?... well i forsure did!!!

so i have decided to make a a Personal Msn .. i have no name for it yet but it will be diferent to the one you use. i will change a bit of the layout and stuff.. ill start working on it first thing tomorrow... I need some beta testers too hopfully this is going to be good.. wish me luck hehehe...

This look for messenger is just the beginning, there is going to be more added later.... There is going to tons more added, and this is really going to look nice, and give a better feel to the messenger experience...

You sound like M$ :D

Please give us a list of what you've done, so we can give input (if you want it of course).

How can this be beta-tested if there's nothing to test?

I totally agree with your statement that msn 6.2 is severley lacking in features. Skins can make it look a lot better.

However, what have you added to it on this skin? These are the only real things i can see that have changed:

you seem to have butchered the menu bar, so that you cannot access anything on there

Changed "MSN Messenger" to "iMessenger" in the titlebar

Changed the background of status & screen name so its 10px less high and removed "My Status"

Changed "No new e-mail messages" to "No e-mail"

Yet, you state "It contains better usage, quicker access and more understanding."

better usage - dont really understand what you are stating there

quicker access - bear in mind that some people do use the menu's on the main program...

I dont think that you should stop developing this skin, but i think you should bear in mind the comments posted in this thread and possibly modify when necessary.

Only so much can be done with reshacking, extending the program to do more things isnt really possible with it.

Reshacking MSN/Windows Messenger is easy. Damn bloody easy.

Now MSN Skinning is one thing, fine and dandy, but to say its gonna be this great experience is another.

You havent done anything that hasnt been done before, and one more thing, its not a new thing.

And why do i have to register in order to download?

Like i said, i made it just for me becuase i fell inlove with mac messenger...this was a program made just for me and i thought i might share it.. so please if you dont like it.. .well your problem i personally love it now that it kinda looks like the mac one..

As i said, it is your decision (as you made it for yourself) wherether you listen to user feedback on here or not.

May i make one suggestion: add some of the layout images from the mac msn messenger. e.g. the status images, IM window header images, etc.

I'm sure a lot of people would like MSN Messenger for Windows styled like the one for Mac, as:

Windows version = more features

Mac version = looks better

Combining the two could look pretty good, so i'll wait to see how it turns out ;)

If it is good enough it might be worthy of posting on mess, but i'll wait and see :)

yup it does work with plus 2/3

there are more features comming.. and the gui will change soon.. bare with me that this was a personal mod because i loved the mac messenger and couldent find somthing that emulates it, so i decided to edit this msn in res hacker and make my own modification.. I realy liked it and decided to share :)

So if you think its usless see if i care, i didnt make it for you.

I fail to see how you are going to be able to build in a feature that is not included with the original product... You cant do this without using a different control (doesnt support animated images), adding more to the original source of the program and updating the MSN Protocol and everyone else's msn.

Of course, a demonstration could prove this wrong, but i find it highly unlikley that you have managed this :wacko:
