Hopefully all the tests went well. I know how frustrating school can get. I am in my fourth year here at Northern Iowa. If you need any help let me know.

In the meantime, looking forward to the next release here. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Forgot one quick question: how do I change how often the program contacts TWC site for info update?

Thanks

hey, Im gonna have to report a bit of a problem here... as soon as the temps jump over 20 degrees it gives me and extreme temperature popup and the temp goes red. Here in australia (especially Perth) one doesnt consider 21 degrees to be amazingly hot, what is it going to say when we reach 30+ degrees ?

You might wanna add a user temperature range for the warnings, makes things a little easier.

edit::(yes i know it can be turned off but id still like a warning on extreme temperatures.)

Click on file then Alert Options. You can set the Alert Tempatures.

Text is a little cut off as u can see:

Also transpararnt system tray icons would be nice. So they dont just have a black background.

Thanks,

I have that problem too, but my roommate doesn't. And we have almost the same exact setup.

This is frustrating. If he continues to ignore this thread I will be forced to switch back to Weather Pulse. At least that program's author communicates with the users. Furthermore, he continues to update the program. If this kid does not show some respect and at least talk to us I will boycott it altogether.

Do not get me wrong; this is a great program, but it is not perfect.

Calm down.

He may be busy with other things at the moment.

His life isn't devoted to pleasing AGW83.

If and when he decides to continue development on the software... that will be up for him to decide.

Please read my post before you reply. I clearly stated that he could at least communicate with us. If he is busy, fine. I understand the college life because I am there (and sometimes thank God almost done). The point is, I have no problem and no right to be mad that he is busy, but it would be nice to know that.

Sorry guys, I didn't realize that people were posting because I didn't realize I was no longer subscribed to the thread (so Neowin wasn't sending me emails that there were new posts)

Just noticed one small point in the weather display. I am looking at Chester UK. I can also get that from my Yahoo UK personalised home page. The info is identical, not surprisingly, as the source is the same (uk.weather.com)

At the moment, the text in the equivalent to your current conditions panel on Yahoo is 'showers in the vicinity'.

In Weather Alert it shows that also in the extended view,? in the current as of panel, but in the current conditions panel it gets chopped to 'showers in the' presumably because you haven't got enough space, or did not set shrink font size to fit?

The Yahoo home page does not show the detailed forecast info like you do, and it does not have animation on the satellite map, so I'm using weatherAlert for preference :-).

Yeah unfortunately there isn't enough room for long conditions. I haven't really been able to work out any reliable fix for that yet.

Is version 2.2.9.5 the latest version? I DLed WeatherAlert a while ago and love it. It says I have the latest version when I check for updates, but didn't know if that was implemented. Thanks!
Yes, sadly I have not found enough time to keep updating it; I hate to say it but you probably shouldn't expect any updates until at least mid-december when school lets out for intercession.
nice tool man, maybe add skinning support ?

The only skinning support is with the icons. I have no plans to add further skinning at the moment

My only problem is that things get cut off. - 1024x768, Royale, XP SP2, .Net 1.1

Also a suggestion where you allow both the temp. and condition icon in the sys. tray, add an option where you can have this only when its a sever alert. Thanks.

I plan to bring back the option to have both icons, as well as more detailed options for the alerts (the whole settings page is being redone, that's why this is taking so long because it's VERY tedious)

Yeah unfortunately my "midterms" (basically what they call tests, I don't know why) are spread out so I have something or other every week it seems, between that and homework and my job it's tough. As for the update question, TWC only lets me check every half hour, in the early few pages of the thread I post a workaround.

As for that text cut off, that's thanks to .NET 1.1 SP1 breaking nested group boxes, that IS fixed but I can't release because I'd already begun hacking the settings page to bits so it's really not a usable release. You can change the tray icon colors in the settings, as well as the warning temperatures.

Some fonts inexplicably cut off "k" in OK; I can't figure out why, there's ample space.

Again, sorry for not posting, I didn't realize that the neowin board had stopped sending me emails. Thanks a million to Gawain for PMing me (Y))

The plan for the new settings is a collapsible list on the left side which, when you click an option, will show that group on the right. Unfortunately, it is extremely annoying to design all the groups since at the end they'll all be overlapping and they'll programmatically be shown or hidden, but right now they're spread all over the place.

OK, I actually did a little bit of work on the program, and surprisingly I managed to complete the settings page, as far as appearance goes (not as far as functionality). I am uploading this version here for you guys to comment on. THE SETTINGS PAGE IS NON FUNCTIONAL, i.e. it won't save any settings you change there, and dependent settings will not enable or disable; it is merely to show you guys the appearance of it so that I can get feedback.

If you need to change settings, don't use this one because this version has no way to do so.

Let me know what you think about it (specifically the settings layout).

edit: um, I can't seem to upload the file, it says

Anyone know what's up? I don't feel like throwing this on my webserver

Must be a size limit per file.

It's not that I don't have space, but I'd prefer to know for future things why this isn't working, or what the max file size is (wasn't it like 250k? I don't remember if that was just for images). I'll post it soon. It's 3 in the morning with my building's fire alarm having just gone off (which happens like once or twice a day, we must have the biggest collection of idiots on the campus)...this one is the best though; they don't know how to turn it off (they should have plenty of practice, sheesh) so it keeps going off for a few seconds at random intervals. And I have to get up at 7 for work. Yay.

    • RevPDF 4.5.0 by Razvan Serea RevPDF is a free, fully offline PDF editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you edit text and images directly inside PDF files — no internet connection, no account, and no cloud uploads required. Unlike bloated alternatives that demand subscriptions and constant connectivity, RevPDF fits in under 60MB on desktop while delivering a complete editing toolkit: annotate, redact, sign, compress, split, merge, convert, and reorganize pages, all processed locally on your device. Smart font matching ensures edited text blends seamlessly with the original, and multi-language support includes RTL scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Where most PDF editors force you to choose between features and simplicity, RevPDF manages both. You can build interactive forms from scratch with text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns, permanently redact sensitive data before sharing, draw freehand on contracts and diagrams, and add custom watermarks — all without a single file leaving your machine. Edit Text and Images Directly Inside PDFs RevPDF supports true inline PDF editing — not just annotation layers on top of a document, but actual modification of existing text and images within the file. A smart font-matching engine identifies the font used in the original document and applies it automatically when you make edits, so changes blend naturally with the surrounding content. You can reposition elements, resize images, and update text across single pages or entire documents. RevPDF 4.5.0 release notes: This is one of the biggest updates to RevPDF yet. A lot of things people have been asking for are finally here. New Features Auto Redaction Permanently redact sensitive text and areas from your PDFs before sharing. Clean, irreversible, and fully offline. Comments, Links & Bookmarks Add comments for review, insert clickable links, and create bookmarks to jump around long documents without scrolling forever. Find & Replace Search across the whole document and replace text in one go. Long overdue. Split Pages Vertically or Horizontally Split any page down the middle, vertically or horizontally. Perfect for scanned books or double-page spreads. New Drawing Tools More tools for freehand drawing and markup, better for annotations, sketches, and detailed notes. Continuous Scrolling in Editor The editor now scrolls continuously through pages instead of jumping between them. Working through long documents is a lot smoother now. PDF Metadata Editor View and edit the metadata stored inside your PDFs, including title, author, subject, and keywords. Better Font Matching Text edits now blend in more naturally by doing a better job of matching the original font. Tabbed PDF Viewer Open multiple PDFs at once in tabs and switch between them without going back to the home screen. Add Links Insert hyperlinks anywhere in your PDF, to external URLs or to other pages within the document. Share & Print Shortcuts Share or print directly from the editing screen, home screen, and viewer. No extra steps. Minor Updates Paste images directly from clipboard into your PDF New image editing tools for more control over images inside documents Bug Fixes Fixed file saving issues on Windows and Linux Everything still works fully offline. No login, no cloud, no account. Your files stay on your device. • Interesting. I'm not using a VPN with my phone. I tried though my home internet (Rogers) and my cellular internet (Telus) and both trigger the dialog above.
