Changelog from ATi's Site:

User Defined Component Video HDTV Modes

-The CATALYST 4.5 driver provided a new interface that allows users to define the optimized modes for their HDTV's. This allows for images to be properly centered on their HDTV. The interface allows users specify a mode through a test window. Once the user saves this information, it will be saved as a user defined preference. This feature was not available in 4.5 and is now enabled.

OpenGL Hardware Acceleration for ATI Rotation -OpenGL Hardware Acceleration for ATI Rotation Mode. This feature is supported across the current shipping ATI Desktop product line, and is supported under both Windows XP, and Windows 2000.

Performance Improvements

As with most CATALYST? releases performance has increased in various situations. The following performance gains are noticed:

-Pixel Shader compiler improvements bring significant performance gains to PS 2.0 applications such as Halo (2-3%), Tomb Raider (4-5%) and Mother Nature (4-5%).

-ShaderMark 2 shows numerous gains in the 3-6% range.

-The High Dynamic Range scenes in ShaderMark (Tests 20 & 21) gain 10-15%.

-RADEON X800 driver tuning improves performance for several Vertex-Shader-heavy tests.

For example, Battle of Proxycon, Troll's Lair and Mother Nature gain 9-15% on the RADEON X800 PRO.

-Improvements in our surface allocation and texture management code have increased performance for resource-challenged cases.

-Re-Volt scores improve 25% at 1600x1200 across several RADEON configurations.

-ShaderMark Test 14 (Veined Marble) improves dramatically (up 380% at 1600x1200) on some 256MB products.

-Improvements in OpenGL driver efficiency bring numerous small gains (1-3%) in Call of Duty, Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory, Star Trek - Elite Force II, Serious Sam, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake III Arena.

-X800 memory tuning improves Anti-Aliasing performance in a number of games and benchmarks.

For example, at 4xAA, 3DMark2001 gains 4-7%, UT2003 Antalus and Asbestos Flybys improve 2-7%, and the CodeCreatures score rises 15%. Issues Resolved in CATALYST? Version 4.6

Thanks! Funny thing is, I just checked the website about 2 hours ago and they didn't have the new drivers up... I knew they'd be coming soon. Anyway, I checked this page http://www2.ati.com/drivers/Catalyst_46_Release_Notes.html and they have alot of improvements. Speed improvements for PS2.0, OpenGL and fixes for Halo and BF Vietnam. Now we just need the new control panel!

no change to the Control Panel... :(

the ATI icon on my sys tray is new and looks better than the latter.

i ran through most of the settings and there is no change. for the most

part i think if you have X800 or a XT card the control panel *might* be

different... I have 9700pro so i cant confirm if there is a difference.

and as for supernova_00, the textures are fixed, but on some textures

like a bridge or sides of stone walls, it kinda looks like im in olde school

software mode quake2... but its extremely minor texture corruption/rendering.

    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
