,Jun 15 2004, 22:22] I think one thing you could do to this thread (although it might be a bit too late) is have the mods delete all the non-requests messages (eg the ones where people are just chatting) leaving behind just those that have not been "satisfied" yet. So essentially this thread just becomes a list of names in posts and no chatting of any kind...

...perhaps. I dunno. Just thought I'd throw in my 0.000000000000002 bucks

A little bit too late. That's what happens when you have a life... I go work and when I come back someone "hijacks" the idea because I wasn't there for a couple hours.

they're having this in Genmay and it's working out nicely :) http://genmay.net/showthread.php?t=373322

and i'm in!

Lol, it used to be called "The world's longest short bus" (at least it was when it was still part of HardOCP forums) now it's called "The worlds shortest long bus", who changed the caption?

The world's shortest longbus.

the title was renamed to Google [M]ail a few days ago

let me get this straight... did you just use this thread to redirect people to your blog ? Sorry but I won't be updating this anymore... because there's no point in doing it. This thread was doing more than fine and now someone creates a blog and a dozen more invites have been given away. It just mixed everything up and I don't really feel like seeking for all the info. I'm sure you wanted to help, but to me its sh*tty. You wanted to get more hits on  your site or something ?

Yes, I think that's exactly what he did. The reason he did it was because there is no clear way on this thread to tell anymore who has been invited and who hasn't, and he wanted to make an easier way to send out his invitations (although not necessarily a fairer way). Xplatinum, I think that your idea for a centralized thread like this is very noble, and you should continue trying to do it, but you should make sure that you or a friend of yours can be on at all times monitoring the thread to ensure that it doesn't get out of control (as it has). I'm all for helping you, if you want the help (I'm on when you're not a lot of the time, it seems, as I live in California and am on summer break). The thread won't work perfectly, but I think you should continue in this endeavor to get invites out to those who have requested them earliest.

a list of all the people in line plus their emails.

I agree; rather than sorting through threads, when someone posts, wanting an account, add their account name and e-mail address to a list, and continually update that list (or as often as you can), so that people can easily see who to invite. The only problem with that is that the list needs to be continually updated, so you'd need someone else who could edit the list as well, so I'm not sure how it would work.

Funny thing is, he only assumed that I wasn't updating anything. Instead of sending me a PM like anyone with principles would do, he decided to do this out of the blue.

There's a reason why I can't update the "next person". Its because people PM me about who they have to invite and I reply to them with the next in the list BUT I still have to wait for an answer, thus making me unable to update it since i'm not sure of anything!

But yeah, that's exactly what he did and it ****ed me off.

Thanks for the help by the way. I'm not sure what i'm gonna do since it doesn't have anything to do with lack of updates. Gotta love people who assume all the damn time without asking questions FIRST.

-- Jason: That's already what I tried to do here. Look at my first post. Also it will be impossible to make people only post emails without this going offtopic.

You don't get invitations for about a week, I believe. Just be patient.

Edit: it might be a day; I've heard a week, but I'm not certain, as I just got my account today.

I can confirm that XXDes got invites after approx 1-2days... and subsequently gave me an invite (Y)

Whether this applies to every user, or whether XXDes happened to signup when Google dished out invites on a periodical basis anyway...is quite frankly anyone's guess :)

I think the donors who came here when your PM box was full and you were away wanted to get their invitations "out the door" as quickly as possible and so didn't follow the rules you set up. Unfortunately, there is nothing that one can really do, as there is no way to control how donors give out their accounts (the accounts ARE theirs, after all). However, I think that all posts where donors offer accounts without following the queue should be removed, as that is not the point of this thread. I don't know how this could really be done without a dedicated moderator for this thread, but it's a thought (imagine the title: "Supreme Gmail donor moderator" :p)

can some one give me the three next people on the list?

Trang: I already said to Opio a couple pages back that the donators can give their accounts to whoever they want... but no need to hijack the idea and bring half of it somewhere else. My PM box was full... I have my msn and email listed below :)

That's true; it is hard to properly invite people if the "up next" part of the first post is not consistently updated. I guess the best thing to do is to post and wait until someone actually figures out who that person is. It is slower but fairer that way. The reason we've had so many "illegal" Gmail transfers (illegal by the rules of this thread) is that no one was around to figure out who was next and/or donors didn't bother to ask.

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
