Longhorn Leaf logon

by Cubiz

I was quite suprised to find that no-one had done this before now, so I decided to make it myself :D It took me about 5 days to finally get it right, so I hope you guys enjoy it. It's a combination between the PDC logon and the popular "Longhorn Leaf" wallpaper.

Works with all resolutions, however looks best at 1024x768.

Size: 2,510kb (2.45mb)

includes the Segoe UI font required for the logon.

screenshot below.

actually, I just tried it with other resolutions.... it works fine with a resolution thats 1024x768 or higher just fine. 800x600 or less doesn't work though...

so, I suppose everyone can download it now... I really should have tested it with other res before... :|

@ winxptwker: what's wrong with themexp?

Spyware ads.

@ winxptwker: what's wrong with themexp?

When I install the logon screen, Themexp.org installs some crap spyware on the computer and when I uninstall the spyware, it does not uninstall. I had to use Ad-aware and Spybot SD to completely remove any traces. So I am not going to Themexp.org at all costs.

Guys, two things about themeXP.

It says the file is wrapped, but it's not the kind that installs spyware. All I got was a link to themexp.org.

If you do get a spyware installer one, just DON'T agree to the spyware terms. It will install everything but the spyware. Like, for example...if it says it's gonna install the lop.com toolbar, there will be a EULA and an "I Agree". You can not check the "I Agree" and it will still unpack the theme for you, minus the spyware. So stop bitching and get his awesome logon screen :p

Yeah, I've had people from other forums complain when I point them towards ThemeXP. As long as you have a pop-up blocker and spyware removal software, you shouldn't have to many problems. And like o83zero said, you can simply not install the spyware. The only reason I post my work on ThemeXP is because they pay me to post my work on their site, and they also pay for my domain. The new owners did ruin it a bit, but they are really nice guys to do this for their authors.

I really hope that ThemeXP isn't the only reason to why you don't download the logon...

That'd be a shame, your logon is excellent...I just wish it matched better with my Yuna wallpaper. Aside from that, it's great. Maybe do one with a black background, like in 4053? :D

Well, I downloaded it and in the zip file there's a logonui.exe file (with a diff name) so there's nothing to worry about.

Here's how I installed it:

Do a search for "logonui.exe" on your drive (include system and hidden files).

Rename the ones you found to logonui.old (except for the one you downloaded of course)

After a few seconds windows may give you a warning about the replaced files, just choose to keep the modified files.

Copy the new logonui.exe (downloaded) to the folders where you renamed the files (should be System32 and System32\dllcache)

Windows may once again show a warning, choose to use the modified files again.

After that logoff and enjoy the new login screen.

I'm using the longhorn leafs wallpaper as well and it looks great.

For those who realy don't want to donload it from ThemeXP, here's my link to the file:

Flash: Yes you would get what's in the jpg above but withoiut any user names, it will appear for about a second and then proceed to windows desktop.

You can always disable autologin if you wan't to enjoy this login screen :)

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
    • Same, never saw it on Android or iOS. Guess only some people got it *shrugs*
    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
