Griffey hits 500th HR

Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 500th career home run Sunday in a 6-0 victory in St. Louis. Griffey led off the 6th inning and his Matt Morris's 2-2 offering an estimated 393 feet into the right field stands. After rounding the bases, Griffey's teammates came out and congratulated him. Griffey went over to the box seats next to the dugout, where his father was sitting. He gave his father a hug and said "Happy Father's Day" The St. Louis fans gave Griffey an ovation as he went out to CF in the bottom half of the inning.

he told stan musial before the game he wants to play til hes 40. he needs to average 42.5 HRs per year between now and then to tie Hank Aarons record

no suprise with his 500th round tripper, think of how much faster he would have reached 500 without all of his injuries.....what if he had 50+ homerun seasons in those years he was injured.....maybe, just maybe he could of had a chance at Aarons amazing record

No kidding. i am disappointed that he had basically 3 years out due to injuries.....at 50 per...he'd be close to 650 right now. barry Who?

This is amazing....since his 500th HR Griffey has only got 1 hit at 19 plate apperances.

Just a slump, still one of the all time greats
