[MLB] Gagne's save streak ends at 84

Recommended Posts

yeah, well he blew a save in the all star game 2 years in a row. and last year it cost the NL home field advantage.. didnt end up mattering to me, but his postgame reaction was like "dont question me, i am eric gagne. the all star game doesnt matter" yeah it doesnt matter to you because your team wont be around by the start of september. dude needs to realize that he was only a mediocre starter, hes not as good as this streak might suggest.

ok, so that article compares his streak to other streaks in different categories. i dont see the point in comparing 84 saves to joe dimaggio's hitting streak or ripken's game streak. im not saying his streak is the greatest in baseball, or that hes the best closer ever because of it, im just saying that 84 is an impressive streak of saves, and he didnt have a giant lead in all of them.

edit: btw, thanks for the article, it was an interesting read

First off, I hate the Dodgers more then any baseball team. But come on, how many of the pro athletes on this forum can even throw a baseball, let alone for a strike or at 95+ mph? Oh thats right, not a damn one of you. Gagne himself knew he wasn't a good starter, he wanted to go 'all out' all the time and you can't when your a starter, you have to pace yourself. Gagne comes in when the Dodgers need a nail in the coffin. Only Mariano Rivera in a playoff game was as scarry as Gagne. You knew if you weren't winning going into the ninth, you probably will lose. 84 is incredible, I think the SI article said he had a strikeout ratio of 2/3. People watched Dodger games just to watch this guy. I know he had to face Bonds a few times during this streak, now that is a show. Liker Percival vs. Bonds in the WS a few years ago, now that was incredible.

well, if you think about it boog... that means that he did not blow a lead in 84 games. that IS pretty dominant.

saves are worthless imo too, but when you can own your game like that, that is pretty awesome.

Oh, I understand the achievement....But you can also put it into perspective...how many of those 84 games were 1 inning appearances?

I like this guy, he has that hockey mentality playing as a pitcher.. did you see when that dude went to challenge him and he (gagne) met him at home plate ready to kick some ass lol

That's the kind of balls more pitchers need to have, someone questions your throw then get in their face and make them back down. :D :p :ninja:

    • Microsoft resumes forced Copilot app installation on some Windows PCs by Usama Jawad Late last year, Microsoft planned to begin the automatic installation of the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on certain Windows PCs. However, in March 2026, it disabled this process due to a technical issue and informed customers that it would let them know when it would resume. It seems like that was only a temporary respite, as the Redmond tech giant has started the forced installation of the app on eligible devices. In an update on its Message Center for IT admins, Microsoft has informed customers that it is resuming the automatic installation of the Microsoft 365 Copilot on commercial Windows PCs that have Microsoft 365 apps already installed. What this means is that if you have Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more installed on your Windows PC through a Microsoft 365 license, you'll likely see the Microsoft 365 Copilot app pop up in your Installed Apps section soon, too. Fortunately, IT admins do have some control over this rollout. If they choose to opt out, devices in their tenant won't automatically get the dreaded Copilot app. However, phased rollout via feature flags has already begun and is expected to be completed by the end of June: Feature Flag1: started Jun 4, expected to finish June 10 Feature Flag2: expected to start on June 11, expected to finish on June 17 MSGraph schema rollout: expected to start on June 18, expected to finish on June 24 Feature Flag3: expected to start on June 25, expected to complete by July 1st Microsoft hasn't detailed what the process is to toggle the feature flags in its Message Center, and its public support page does not seem to mention it yet either. The Redmond tech giant has encouraged IT admins to let users know beforehand so they aren't caught by surprise to see a new app seemingly installed without manual interaction or their consent. Users who already have the app installed or are based in the European Economic Area (EEA) are unaffected by this move, which Microsoft has understandably flagged as a "major change".
