treadingwater
...I had my Windows XP key code.................... Then I lost it. So........ I downloaded something from Kazaa (Lite!!!!) and used the first one that worked. It got me through the windows setup but now I can't do any of the criticul updates from Windows Update since it detects my key to be invalid. How can I change the key without reinstalling windows? Thanks for reading. T.W.

I8PP
Microsoft provides a method of changing keys (you find it). Of course you must change it with a legitamitely obtained one.

cal2002
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/xpfaq.html#need2 - You need the key first, so if you have a retail copy of XP call them and get the key. If you have an OEM copy, you need to call your OEM, MS will not help with that,
