CabiMan
May sound like a strange question but here's my setup. I have a web/file server connected to a very small home network (3 PC's). The server is not connected to the internet. All PC's on the network run antivirus software and have software firewalls. Two of the machines are connected (via 2nd network cards) to a broadband router (with HW firewall) to the internet. The other machine is on dialup (my daughter - and she's not allowed on BB yet!) So, back to the original question - is it worth having either an antivirus package or firewall on the server? The server is W2K running IIS (locked down etc), but has no connection to the internet. If this is a little confusing I can post a diagram.
PseudoRandomDragon
Being that it has no internet, I do not see the need. Just secure it so that only you can login and everything should be fine.
CabiMan
Great, just checking because corporate AV's are hellish expensive, didn't want to lay out the cash if there wasn't a need. The server isn't a domain controller, just a web server with a few shared folders etc. So the only login I have is the admin account (renamed with huge password !!)
