Pookster
I know there are some tricks to speed up the page load times in Firefox. But, is there anyway to speed up the time it takes to load FireFox in general? Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!
imtoomuch
Not that I know of, but is it really that slow to start up for you? For me the difference in load times between IE and FF is less than a second.
krankyiuys
yeh i've noticed the same thing - FF takes ages to start up - especially when resuming pages (tabbrowser extensions)...
Floyder
yeap, it happens the same here. tho sometimes its faster as ie
Xtreme $niper
Mine takes about the same time as IE on normal occasions but it doesnt make my hard drive make noises like crazy. Its a quiet start up, which I like.
Elliott
Normally, the more plugins you have, the longer it takes to start up.

krmathis
i dont htink anythin will load up as fast as IE since IE is integrated right into windoze Thats the reason. On my Mac where they have the same conditions (neither IE or Mozilla Firefox is preloaded), Mozilla Firefox beats IE by ~1-2 sec.
empty
http://asia.cnet.com/itmanager/tech/0,3900...39172453,00.htm will prefetch all programs for you giving you an added boost in startup
krankyiuys
i've definitely noticed an improvement in speed by ditching tbe and using the prefetch option. if anyone wants a list of extensions i used to recreate the 'tbe effect' let me know. Patrick_
Yes, there is one, actually. It can work with most programs. Right click the shortcut, click properties. Go to Target. After the quotations, add Prefetch:1 And so on, with any program you would like to speed up (Prefetch:2, Prefetch:3, etc) Again, with some it won' work, but with Firefox, it does.
